On the way to church

One of the most picturous subjects in Cyprus (and in Greece for that matter) are old ladies dressed all in black. They can usually be seen in the villages and/or on the way to/from church. Since I am a bit shy at photographing people (other than my friends and relatives), I’ve never even attempted to make a picture of the “black grandma”. Today I saw one on the street going to church while I was driving home from work. I decided to photograph her. I stopped the car, shot the picture, jumped in the car and went away in a hurry. The picture came out pretty much OK, but I have to calm myself down more next time.

Behavioural test

We’ve put Maxim through a behavioural test today. Don’t get scared yet, we didn’t do anything even remotely cruel to him.

Olga and I went to visit Vladimir. A small celebration of his birthday and a showing of Maxim to Vladimir’s parents were our goals. Obviously, we took Maxim with us.

He was behaving surprisingly well. At first we were a little bit worried about how he would handle himself, since he is misbehaving (wakes up too often, doesn’t take the breast properly, spits the milk – these sort of things) during the last couple of days. But with every moment we were getting more and more confident.

Maxim fell asleep in the car. And he basically slept through the next couple of hours. Than he woke up. I took him in my hands and calmed him down a bit. Than put him back and he slept for yet another hour. After that he asked for food. Very politely I must say. Olga fed him. Maxim went back to sleep.

Isn’t he one cute baby that can be carried around parties? Sure he is. Now we’ll have to confirm his behaviour with more going out.

Migrated to WordPress

I have finally managed to migrated to WordPress. Database statistics inform me that:

There are currently 1,884 posts and 479 comments, contained within 22 categories.

As of now I am still fixing minor glitches here and there, but major things work. Just to let you know what is broken:

  • Permanent links. They are not working yet at all. Fixed.
  • Old links. None of the old links are working. Partially fixed. All of them won’t work anyway. Let me know if you find anything that I missed.
  • Users. I haven’t created any except for amdin account and myself. Feel free to register though. Not a bug. My brother managed to register all by himself, thus there is no problem.
  • Thumbnails. Some pictures come out in their original size and thus really mess up the look and feel. I will attend to this problem shortly. Too much editing required. Only new posts will have proper thumbnailing. And those that I will fix manually. Please complain.
  • Google Ads. I don’t yet have it installed. I will fix the temlate very soon. Fixed. Google Ads will now appear only on full item pages. This should improve the click-through ratio due to better ad suggestions. Keep clicking.
  • Blogroll. WordPress has an excellent tool for maintaining a blogroll, but it is not very useful to me, since I have mine at BlogLines. I’ll fix the exporting script shotly. Fixed.
