I live in Cyprus for many years now. It is a beautiful little island in Mediterranean Sea. It features warm weather for most of the year, sea, very kind and hospital people, plenty of jobs in IT industry, good food and plenty of alcohol, stable currency, and more. It’s really a nice place to live if you can handle small towns and villages. It’s also a great place to raise the kids.
Not much happens here. It is a quiet and simple place. Yet, when something happens or when I write about it, I post it to Cyprus category.

Saturday – the adventure day. Today we went to mountains to see Troditissia monastery and have a meal at Fini tavern. Mountains met us with a heavy snowfall. Flakes were so huge that everyone demanded that we stop and photograph them. :)
The road to the monastery was slippery and dangerous due to a deadly mix of bad tarmac, mud, gravel, water, and snow. Max speed was like 20 km/h. :)
The monastery looked nice on the outside, but tourists (read: we) were not allowed inside. Maybe it’s just a wrong season. Whatever…
Fini tavern and steak “Shato Brean” was excellent as usual. :) Wine was also good. Short walk around Fini village after the meal and a failed attempt to find a trail to Handara waterfalls.
On the way back to Limassol we stopped at Kouris dam. Loads of water! Actually we saw a small church standing in the middle of the water. That’s a real photo opportunity that I tried to exploit as much as I could. The results are here.
In the evening, I went to housewarming party at Alex Yudichev’s place. Lots of people, beer, and talks. Nice time overall. :)
Saturday aka trip day again. This time we are off to Agia Napa. Cyan sea, white sandy beach, lots of bars and restaraunts. That’s about all there is in Agia Napa. Anyway. We went to Nissi beach, which is behind, guess what, a Nissi Beach Hotel. :) Some food in the beach restaraunt to wait for the sun to go a bit down. A pint, of course.
The sand is something. The view is magnificant, but the water is full of some green shit, which is probably because of the tourists dumping all sorts of crap into the water. And the water was hot. Not warm, not chealing, but hot.
After couple of hours on the beach, we went for another pint to the only nice place that we all know in Agia Napa – Jasmine. It’s a huge pub with food and drinks and nice design. It looks like you are sitting in the huge tree. Refreshing, after Limassol pubs.
Trip back home with original plan to watch a movie, but noone is in the mood, so we play a game of poker at my place. Olga won. I took the second place and Hazard did the third. Lev was outta game with way too much bluffing. :) And showing his cards.
That’s about it. As usual, waiting for Hazard to put out the pictures.
Tired and exhausted when leaving office, to complete the feeling I found out a huge nail stuck in the middle of the tire. So, I went to the only garage on my way home which was still open. And what do I find there? THE BEST SERVICE I’VE SEEN IN CYPRUS. The guy practically ran to open the door for me when I was getting out of the car. Natural smile, fast moving around, he offered me a drink (a choice of coffee, tea, water, and orrange juice), then discovered that coffee machine was out of water, so he ran across the street to kiosk to get some water, fixed the machine, gave me a cup of coffee, fixed the tire, checked pressure in for all other wheels, and charged me only 3CYP with a huge smile. That is what I call antistress. The whole tiredyness of the day was gone.
Again to Akamas Peninsula we go! This time we had Lev with us to share on the beauty. Unfortunately, there was only one portion of pork in the restaraunt uphill, so we had to eat mostly chicken – no problem, we’ll call them in advance next time. Then, down to the beach for a swim. This time though, the waves were way bigger then the last time, so we had some problems getting out of the water. Most of us lost control of the situation, but Lev proved to be a real sea wave proffessional, diving in and out of the water like was Poseidon himself! :)
Luckily, with no major injuries we all got out and went back to Limassol, where we, once again, gathered at Hazard’s place to watch “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” in Goblin’s funny translation. This part was translated better then the “Fellowship of the Ring”, but the soundtrack he put sucked big time. Mostly it was Russian pop music, which is really really really ugly and totally out of the theme. Fellowship soundtrack was much better with Rammstein over the orc’s faces, etc. Anyway, we still had a bunch of fun, and that is what counts.
