Olga is recovering very fast. She even tried to eat a bit today (plain macaroni and a bit of fruity jelly). She is scared of food at the moment, but that’ll pass.
Doc says that she needs 5-7-10 days to get her strength back before he will remove her gall bladder. I just hope that all this nightmare will end some day and Olga will return home…
Meanwhile, I think that now I know all the nurses and sisters in the hospital. They always offer me some food and even a bed to stay for the night. :)
Olga is much much better today. She even had a bit less then half a cup of tea. They also sat her in the armchair for an hour. After lunch she was moved out of the ITU to the normal room. Hopefully she’ll get well…
Since Olga was not any more in the critical condition, I decided that was a good time to celebrate. Hazard, Lev and I went to “Kod CECE” Yugoslavian (yeah, yeah, I know) restaurant for a nice meal and beer. Then, off to Hazard’s place to watch an excellent movie, though documentary – Bowling for Colombine. Highly recommended!
Olga is still in the ITU. She doesn’t look good. She is also very depressed. Yesterday, she lost a lot of blood, so they had to give her about 2.5 pints of blood. Then they continued with a pint of plasma.
At about lunch time, the bleeding started again. This time it was minor, so they had time to gather all doctors and think carefully about it. The Nicosia guy came also, he performed another ECRP and made another injection of adrenaline. Now we all should hope that Olga will stay stable for the next 24-48 hours.
Today, Olga feels worse. Apparently, it looks like the clod from the duct cut went off, resulting in internal bleeding. In the evening, the bleeding was considered as severe and doctor said that most probably Olga will need an urgent operation to in order to stop the bleeding. Luckily, we managed to find a gastrologist who did the stone removal in Nicosia two days ago and he suggested to try ECRP and the injection of adrenaline in order to stop the bleeding. Our doctor said that there is a slight chance that it might work, but he doubts that anything could have been seen due to a lot of blood.
About 12:30am the doc came out of the operating theatre and said that they succeded with the injection and that they monitored it for 30 minutes and hopefully everything should be fine now. Olga was placed into the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) for better monitoring.
