Due Date

The other day I went to see the comedy written, directed, and produced by Todd Fillips – “Due Date”. Ā Todd also played one of the supporting roles in this film, which is somewhat usual of him. Ā Two main roles were played by Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis.

Even though I did enjoy this comedy quite a bit, I still felt that it was rushed into production. Ā Some parts of the movie are hilarious. Ā I’ve been laughing out loud more than twice. Ā And even laughed to tears once or twice. Ā But there were parts of this movie which were unnecessary, boring, and disconnected. Ā It felt like these were early drafts.

Robert Downey Jr. was interesting – a somewhat more dramatic character than most of his recent movies. Ā Zach Galifianakis was exactly as he usually is in his most recent movies. Ā There were weird moments, but overall the duet worked together.

I won’t recommend this film strongly, but if you have a chance to see it – see it. Ā It’s not a total waste of time. Ā  Ranking-wise, I’d give it a 4 out of 5.

Hangover

I went to see “Hangover” yesterday.Ā  That’s actually one of the films that I was waiting to see.Ā  Firstly, because I am a fan of Todd Philips comedy films (particularly, “Old School” and “Road Trip”, both of which I have probably seen a gadzillion times by now).Ā  Secondly, because the trailer was funny and promising.Ā  And, thirdly, because it’s summer time and I am all for more entertainment.

My expectations were pretty high for this film, and they were all well met.Ā  It was hilarious.Ā  Interestingly, it was funny in a different way then I expected it, but it was very funny non-the-less.Ā  The comedy was evenly distributed across the film, with a bit of build-up effect towards the end.Ā  By which time my belly was hurting and my eyes were wet of laughter.

Highly recommended, with my rating of 5 stars.Ā  Just remember, that this one is not for kids.Ā  Everyone else should watch it.
