TEDxNicosia 2013 – The power of RE
As most of you know, I spent most of the yesterday in Nicosia, attending the second ever TEDxNicosia event. Â I know quite a few people who wanted t go, but the event was sold out in 72 hours, and even yours truly missed getting the ticket. Â If it wasn’t for the kind invite of Marina Theodotou, I would have missed it too. Â So, here are my experiences, notes, and thoughts on the conference.

TEDxNicosia 2013 – RE-Think. RE-Generate. RE-Act.
Since the last TEDxNicosia event back in 2011, everyone and their brother were asking: “When? Â When is the next one? Â And how do I get there?” Â Well, guess what – the next TEDxNicosia event is this Saturday (March 9, 2013)!

That’s the good news. Â The bad news are that the event is totally sold out. Â In fact, all tickets were sold out in 72 hours! Â If you don’t have a ticket now, Â you aren’t going this time. Â Sad, I know. Â But that’s not all the news either. Â I have more.
(drum roll, nervous shaking, breath in, breath out, … go!)
Marina Theodotou, the event organizer, has invited me to attend the event in the capacity of the blogger. Â Yes, that’s right. Â This is my first “official” time. Â I’ll be there for the whole day, blogging, tweeting, snapping pictures, and what not. Â I’ll tell you all about it. Â I promise. Â But before I even start, here is the disclaimer: Â the only compensation/gain that I received or will receive is the complimentary ticket to the event (Thank you, Marina). Â All of the views, opinions, writing, tweets and images posted on this blog or in social networks under my accounts, are of my authorship, unless otherwise stated.Â
Now, with that cleared, I have to say that I am super exciTED. Â I can’t wait to get there, listen to speeches and presentations, and hang out with some really cool people. Â Just a couple of days to go!
WordPress Plugins: Liveblog
WordPress.com VIP blog announced the availability of the Liveblog WordPress plugin. Â This is pretty cool for anyone doing live coverage of events and such. Â One of the coolest things about this plugin is that you don’t have to setup a separate blog for live blogging. Â You can turn any post – new or existing – into a live blog and post updates straight from the front page. Â People who have the blog post open in their browser, will see a notification of an update available, like the one the screenshot below.
Pretty cool.
hack {cyprus} *12 presentations
As I mentioned in a post yesterday, I was going to see the presentations of project on the first Cyprus hackathon. Â And I went. Â And it was awesome!
It was a bit tricky to find and I nearly missed it, as I didn’t know all the buildings that belong to Cyprus University of Technology. Â Luckily, I spotted a bunch of people in black t-shirts outside of the building. Â And there are only three groups of people that wear black t-shirts: geeks, hard rock fans, and policemen. Â I approached carefully, and once I knew these weren’t the police, I knew I would blend in and have a good time.
