Do not fight the nature. You will lose.

My father-in-law has five daughters. No kidding. And all he ever wanted was one son. He tried the first time – no luck. A daughter. He considered giving up, but his wife convinced him to try again. And so he did. Nope. Daughter again. He thought about quiting, but his wife convinced him to try one more time. Who knows? He tried. Daughter. Again.

He took a break for a few years to think things over. And he thought hard. As a result, he divorced his wife. And married another woman. Who already had a son from previous marriage.

Tricking the nature he tried again. And he got it back hard. His wife gave birth to twins. Two girls that is.

Five daughters later, I don’t think he will try again.

Crying

Crying

Slowly we are getting used to Maxim’s crying. Not that he cries a lot, but when it happens we used to drop whatever that was that we were doing and rush to pick him up. Now we can actually pause for a second and decide on the best course of actions. Which is usually to drop whatever is that we are doing and rush to pick him up.

The best way to wake up

What do you think is the best way to wake up? The worst awakening is clear – it is an early morning alarm clock after a late night’s party that left the hangover ache in all your body, and especially in the head. But what is the best way to wake up?

Google job update

Some of you might be wondering what happened with that Google job thing. I’ll tell you.

A couple of days after I have received the letter, I managed to catch my breath and think clearly. It didn’t take me more than five minutes to figure out that I would be a complete idiot not to try it. Part of me still thought that the email wa a hoax or a practical joke. Part of me wanted to work for Google. Most of me believed that that is impossible. But one last tiny part of me said that I could do it.

So I refreshed my Curriculum Vitae, which ended up being a grand editing job. I’ve added descriptions to vague terms like ‘good’ and ‘satisfactory’, inserted some meaningful descriptions, removed and demoted stuff that just isn’t important anymore, and fixed the cosmetics of the look and feel. I emailed back. Said that I am interested in working at Google (yeah, like who isn’t?) and attached the shiny resume.

Quake 4 is out and shipping

Here is a paradox that I encounter most often – the more news and announcements I read, the more I stay behind. The most recent examle of this happening to me is the release of Quake 4. This game is something I has been waiting for the last three or four years. It was The Reason for all hardware upgrades. It was The Reason for all gaming SPAM I receive. And now I missed it.

On October 4, 2005 id Software announcent that Quake 4 was done. On October 18, 2005 Quake 4 started shipping. Trailer has available for some time now too.

And all this passed me by – unbelievable…
