Of course we are not alone! Just look up at the night sky – there are thousands of stars you can see with a naked eye. Â There are billions that you can see with some telescopes and space travel. Â How many of these have planetary systems – we don’t even know well enough yet (we’ve found 133 with more than one planet, but our tools still suck). Â Among all of that, what are the chances that Earth is the only one that has arguably intelligent life? I am no mathematician (or statistician), but I won’t be betting any money on us being alone.

xkcd has a brilliant collection of quotes from the days long gone. Â All of those complain about how the world has become too fast and how we don’t care about the important things anymore. Â The best part about these collection however is that all of these quotes are from the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century. Â Once you drop ignore a few minor technical references like telegraph, it’s almost exactly like the complaints we hear today. Â The world is too fast and we don’t care anymore…
