Intercollege dumped the rock concert

I’ve just got the news that Intercollege cancelled the rock concert that was planned for the next weekend. The reason is, as usual, the lack of funds. Yeah, right… :(

On the good side though, maybe “Katastrofa” band will be performing at the Amateur Song Festival coming Saturday. No guarantees yet, but the Festival is going to be lots of fun with or without the “Katastrofa” presense. :)

Pictures of the moon eclipse

I’ve uploaded pictures that I took during the full Moon eclipse yesterday. Nothing particularly interesting. As I’ve already mentioned, my 75-300mm lens is still in custom’s clearence office, so no details of the Moon for me. But at least something is visible on the full-sized pictures. I am to lazy to crop them though. :)

Total moon eclipse tonight

Total moon eclipse is currently in progress. Usually news like this come for people living in other places, but this time we got lucky.

I’ve found out about the eclipse too late to document the whole process, never-the-less I’ve made few pictures from the roof of our office. Too bad my 75-300mm lens is still in clearence office, so I had to use the 18-55mm kit lens, which is awful for such things. I think I will publish all pictures by tomorrow, since I am not planning on doing any post-processing at all.

Currently the moon is totally covered by the Earth’s shadow. It will stay like this for another hour or so.

There are a lot of articles and news reports on the web which cover the places and times of where and when the eclipse will be visible. Here is a link to a CNN report. And here is a Haaretz Today article, which describes the eclipse from the point of view of Israel – and that is very close to where I am. :)

Bigger Europe

Tonight Cyprus joins European Union together with few other countries. This is a huge historical event.

Suprinsingly, there is not that much of a celebration in Cyprus. All TV channels broadcast the same concert by an aging Greek popstar in Nicosia. Not even a bit attractive. Only the Sigma channel manages to show the concert better than it can be in real life. Whatever.

I assumed there will be some photo opportunities outside with concerts, fireworks, and crowds. I was wrong apparently. I’ve found only one hang out in Kanika area, where they had something similar to a stage with a couple of rock bands playing. It was so horrible that it was actually a bit good. There was no sound, just noise, and there was no light, just a lamp. All my photo enthusiasm was gone in a second. And it was getting further with each other second. When midnight struck, music stopped, speakers said something like “Welcome to Europe and a very good night” and people started to get off. Not much fun. There was not that much of a crowd either. Just a few groups of teenagers below 18. And no fireworks.

Maybe next time. Oh, wait…nevermind. :)
