Heat

Somehow I ended up watching “Heat” on DivX today. It’s a very fine movie and I’ve seen it few times before, but for some reason, the title doesn’t stay in my memory.

The movie has a nice dramatic story underneath, while having a lot of crime action with bank robberies, shootings, fights, and the like. The drama part is very well delivered by Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and a few other well-known actors and actresses. There are few boring and overdone places (like the dialog in the caffee between a cop and a leader of the gang), but overall everything places nice.

There is no way that Hollywood will ever produce a film without happy ending, so there is one here too, but it is as dramatic as it could be. :)

Recomended watch if you didn’t have life for the past 10 years. :)

Metallica S&M [Live]

I’ve finally got my hands on a couple of CDs with Metallica’s S & M, which they recorded live together with San Francisco symphony orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen. After listening to less then half of the first disk I had a terrible regret that I didn’t get this masterpiece earlier. Maybe I am too emotionally attached to Metallica songs or maybe this recordings are really that good, but my head was blown off few times. :)

Big and Good news for Hazard

Today is a big holiday in Hazard’s life. He has received his pink slip (aka Cyprus temoporary residence permit). He has spent the good part of the last two years fighting to get it and waiting for it to arrive, but today his waiting is over. I forsee great celebrations in the nearest future. :)

Congratulations, Vladimir! I hope it will be much easier to renew it in 2005 then it was to get this one.

Pictures of the moon eclipse

I’ve uploaded pictures that I took during the full Moon eclipse yesterday. Nothing particularly interesting. As I’ve already mentioned, my 75-300mm lens is still in custom’s clearence office, so no details of the Moon for me. But at least something is visible on the full-sized pictures. I am to lazy to crop them though. :)

Total moon eclipse tonight

Total moon eclipse is currently in progress. Usually news like this come for people living in other places, but this time we got lucky.

I’ve found out about the eclipse too late to document the whole process, never-the-less I’ve made few pictures from the roof of our office. Too bad my 75-300mm lens is still in clearence office, so I had to use the 18-55mm kit lens, which is awful for such things. I think I will publish all pictures by tomorrow, since I am not planning on doing any post-processing at all.

Currently the moon is totally covered by the Earth’s shadow. It will stay like this for another hour or so.

There are a lot of articles and news reports on the web which cover the places and times of where and when the eclipse will be visible. Here is a link to a CNN report. And here is a Haaretz Today article, which describes the eclipse from the point of view of Israel – and that is very close to where I am. :)
