My CPE got fried again leaving me without connection for good 10 hours. That happenned because I started a whole bunch of BitTorrent downloads before I went to bed and the CPE just couldn’t cope with the traffic. Now I am awake and watching the damn thing closely. :)
Category: Site News
This website is very old. It’s been with me for many years. There are plenty of articles which are useful both for myself and the rest of the world. Bit by bit, word by word, link by link, image by image, this site was filled and filled over the years. Technologies changed. Some new techniques and concepts came up. Some old ones faded away. Spending as much time as I possible can (after everything else) on this site, sometimes I manage to introduce big changes – like a new bit of functionality or a totally different look. Not to confuse and scare everyone, I try to be open about the changes that were made. When something big is changed I post a description of what it was and why I felt the change was needed. These updates are published in this category.
I own “vim and perl” on Google
Ok, this might seem like too much narcisism, but I’ve just found out that my “Vim for Perl Developers” paper comes out as the first match for “vim and perl” search. Apparently, a lot of people were coming to this site because of this. Heh.
Site update
Testing was going so good that I’ve decided not to wait any longer and released the updated part of the site. It has been transfered to Nucleus CMS, which has a nice blog-type interface.
There are still few glitches here and there, but to be on the safe side, please let me know of any misbehavior you notice.
Thank you.
Progress with new blog
OK, as you can see there were few changes around here. I’ve imported most of my Tips and Answers into separate categories of this blog. A bunch of old blog entries have been updated with subjects and pictures. A lot of movie reviews got their poster thumbnails and were moved to an appropriate category.
I’ve also mostly figured out how the layout thingy works, so it shouldn’t take more then a day or two to find something appropriate. There is a whole heap of plugins to try out, but I will leave that for some time in the future. I’ve got the stuff I need, anyway. :)
This new blog is still running in test mode, but today’s progress makes me think that I will release it for general public within a couple of days. My biggest glory is that finally most of the data on my site is in the database, which means I will not have to write any stinky parser no more. The last bit to transfer is the wishlist. :)
Oh, and by the way, I’ve even got the first comment. Hazard as usual is the sneakiest visitor ever! :)
First Post!
This is the first blog entry after I’ve installed Nucleus. I am enjoying it mostly so far. Few things are not yet to my liking, but I am working on it. :)
As you might have already noticed, I’ve imported all my previous blog entries starting from October 2001(!!!). Due to the fact that my formatting was rather simplistic, most entries have posting date as their subject. This will change from now on, but I couldn’t have bothered going through all the old ones and change titles. Just a few that are on the same page.
Another great addition is the ability to add images. You can scroll down for the few I’ve made my tests with.
There are also categories for different blog entries. Currently I don’t have much, but that should also change. Movie reviews will now get thicker and better, I hope. :)
