This website is very old. It’s been with me for many years. There are plenty of articles which are useful both for myself and the rest of the world. Bit by bit, word by word, link by link, image by image, this site was filled and filled over the years. Technologies changed. Some new techniques and concepts came up. Some old ones faded away. Spending as much time as I possible can (after everything else) on this site, sometimes I manage to introduce big changes – like a new bit of functionality or a totally different look. Not to confuse and scare everyone, I try to be open about the changes that were made. When something big is changed I post a description of what it was and why I felt the change was needed. These updates are published in this category.
There were a couple of changes here, so I though I would point it out to you to avoid the surprises. :)
I’ve added an RSS feed to my blog. Now real fans can do all sorts of things like automatic notifications and inclusion into Kontact Summary page.The URL is https://mamchenkov.net/blog/xml-rss2.php . There is also a link on the right.
I am currently working on physical relocation of my home server from one room into another, so there will be a short downtime. I’ll update this node as soon as everything will get back.
Update (14:05): Ok, most of the work has finished. gucho has been moved to the living room and it’s CD-ROM has been changed to DVD-ROM. I will be configuring DVD playback and sound now, but it should not cause any interruptions in the connectivity.
As you can see, there is yet another new color scheme for this site. Since some of the visitors complained about the previous one being “suicidal”, I decided to change it. Finding few colors that work nicely together is not an easy task. Especially for the guy who never had any color-oriented education (like designers). So, I thought “Why should I reinvent the wheel?”. I did that once already, so I decided to use the same colors I use for the Intranet that I am building at work. Nobody is firing me over a CSS. :)
Next time anyone complains about the colors, he/she would better send me a color scheme as well.
I’ve noticed recently an increase in advertizing of Google ads. Lots of sites do have Google ads, so I decided to try it out. As you can see, I’ve added a vertical bar on the right to all blog pages. I’ll see how it will go and if I like it then I’ll add it to other parts of the site. I guess that “Writings” would be the most appropriate place.
