Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II

Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II

Digital photography is getting stronger and stronger by the day. More and more products come out that are aimed at satisfying professional photographers. Yesterday, Canon announced a new camera that should bring even more people into digital – Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II (also here).

This one has a full 35mm-sized censor with almost 17 megapixels (16.7). It can shoot faster (4 fps) and for longer periods of time (32 JPEG or 11 raw images can fit into the buffer). Recent Canon cameras boot much faster, and this one is no exception – power on takes only 0.3 seconds. Battery life was also improved; 1Ds Mark II can make up to 1200 images at +20 degrees C or 800 images at 0 degrees C using the same batter pack. With this amount of pictures, you’ll need some fast transferring mechanism. And Canon provides that too – WiFi adaptor for high-speed transfers. This camera follows another Canon traidition – support for EF lenses, which Canon and other vendors produced in great variety.

The only issue that might stop one from getting in queue for this camera is price. Yup. It will cost around 8,000 Euro, which is way too much for a hobby. Professionals though can afford it.

I decided that feeding you ugly pictures of dirt from my house for three days in a row will be too much. That lead me to an idea of photographing something outside of my house, which I did. Olga and I went for a short walk along the sea line, behind the Park Beach Hotel. It was pretty dark there, but I managed to get a few blurry snaps with ISO1600 setting.

By the way, today’s submission goes into 14th folder in a row and that is, of course, a two weeks mark in my project. Don’t worry, I am not going to stop here. I am just getting all warmed up. :)

Old singSomehow I failed to get back home from my yesterday’s night shift until today’s evening. Lots of home tasks and general sleepyness tried to stopped me from doing something for the ‘Picture of the day’ project of mine, but I am unstoppable.

Without much strength and will to go outside I decided to find something new in my home. And the first thing that pops up into a spoiled mind like mine is, of course, the bathroom. I have made a number of pictures there, which I think are more than enough to represent today in the POTD project.

Check all the pictures here.

How NOT to take pictures of graduates

There is this hilarious collection of the graduates’ photographs – “Planetdan’s Senior Photo Collection“. If there is a chance that you will ever have to photograph a graduate, then check these pictures with comments. If you are not going to make any pictures ever, then check the pictures and read the comments anyway. They will make you smile. I promise.

The most difficult days for my POTD project are those when I sleep through the most of the first part of the day, go to the movies in the second, and go to work for my night shift. Days like these don’t leave me with many photo opportunities.

Today is one of these days. So, what I have to do is just grab my camera, think about things I wanted to photograph, think about things that I haven’t yet photographed, and photograph them. If I cannot find anything, only than I can photograph those items that I consider to be backup for the black day. Fortunately, today, I found three things to photograph which is good enough for the POTD, and which are not yet the backup stuff.

Pictures of my CD collection (backup of photographs), fan, and some power cables are all here. I do feel how I get better with finding photo frames in the casual subjects. And that is excellent, because that is the point of the project.
