Kakomalis. Singing party No.5

It’s that time of the year again, when crowds of Russian people gather together in Kakomalis picnic place and do all sorts of cool stuff. Playing games, cooking barbeque, shooting lots of pictures, singing songs, dancing, and drinking lots of vodka.

While usually I rush to Kakomalis early after noon, today I only managed to get there by about 7:30pm. Still, I didn’t miss much. Most of the music part was still ahead.

This time was the 5th song festival. Each time it is different fromt he last and so it was today. First of all, the stage was at a different place. It was high up on the hill, so all the tables and people were reorganized quite a bit. Secondly, three core musicians (Albert, Doors, and Vladimir Kardash) had to leave early due to their own reasons, so the “pro” part of the concert was somewhat smaller. There was a new rising star though – Pasha. He was excellent. And multilingual too. And he didn’t limit himself to the usual Russsian and English. He went a few more, including the Turkish language. Truely, the music knows no borders.

Fewer people attended this time and most of them left earlier. I suspect mostly because it was rather cold – about +10C. Women and children are known to get frosty in such temperatures pretty quickly. Not to mention a few hours stay outside.

The party ended around midnight. Overall it was good, but I wanted more. That’s why I continued at one of my favourite kitchens down in Limassol.

Rocked a bit

Today I went to “Stork” again with some friends of mine. There was yet another hard rock party. It wasn’t as good as the last time, but it was pretty good anyway. There were enough of both old songs – those that I hear on every rock party, and news songs – old songs, but that I really hear. One of the new songs that really brought up a few good memories was “Another brick in the wall” from Pink Floyd. Among the old ones was an excellently performed “Smoke on the water” from Deep Purple. And yes, it was good even considering the fact that I am among those lucky ones who can compare it to the original.

Although I enjoyed the concert, the atmosphere wasn’t moving enough for me to jump around like a crazy horse and shout like a wounded elephant. Not to worry though. Kakomalis Amateur Song Festival (aka KSP) is coming soon. So far it is expected on November 12th, which is only a couple of weeks away. There I will tear my throat to pieces and abuse my muscles to the point of no return. Again. Yeah. Rock on!

Drumline

Martin suggested that I saw this movie, so I did. “Drumline“.

Directed by: Charles Stone III
Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Music
Cast: Nick Cannon, Zoe Saldana, Orlando Jones, Leonard Roberts, GQ, Jason Weaver, Earl Poitier, Candace Carey, Shay Roundtree, Miguel A. Gaetan, J. Anthony Brown, Afemo Omilami, Angela E. Gibbs, Tyreese Burnett, Brandon Hirsch
IMDB raintg: 5.3
My rating: 3.0 [rate 3.0]

This is a really really crap movie. Completely. It is one of those billion movies that use everything cliche. The story is a mix of talanted kid getting though a college movie with some sport movie about college football team or something. All that is new there – instead of football kids are playing drums.

All acting sucks in this film. Character development is non-existent. There is no drama what-so-ever. As there is no comedy at all. Not even romance. Nothing.

The only thing that made me watch this movie through and give the whole 3 points out of 10 to it is music. Not that it was exceptionally good or anything, but it was a lot of it and it was of a rather large scale – orchestra-type. And they weren’t playing any classics so it was somewhat interesting to listen.

Other than that – the movie is a complete crap. Ignore it.

Hard Rock in Stork

Sasha Doors

I attended an excellent musical event today. It was a hard rock party in Stork club. Basically, it was the crowd from the forum with all those KSP musicians – Alexander (Doors), Albert, Slava Dyrdine, Tony, Victor, Andrey, etc. There were few new music masters too.

I had an enourmous amount of fun. That is my lousy excuse for not taking a lot of pictures. It was the good thing that I put the camera back into bag as I got pretty drunk by the end of the evening and could easily lose or brake it. But I didn’t. Yey! Hopefully there will be lots of pictures from other people.

Oh, and if we are lucky enough someone might have even caught me on video. Dancing. In the most embarrassing of ways… Told you it was a lot of fun! :)
