I live in Cyprus for many years now. It is a beautiful little island in Mediterranean Sea. It features warm weather for most of the year, sea, very kind and hospital people, plenty of jobs in IT industry, good food and plenty of alcohol, stable currency, and more. It’s really a nice place to live if you can handle small towns and villages. It’s also a great place to raise the kids.

Not much happens here. It is a quiet and simple place. Yet, when something happens or when I write about it, I post it to Cyprus category.

British stand-up comedy tomorrow night

Stand-up comedy is a rare occasion here in Cyprus.  Especially so for the comedy in English.  Tomorrow night (April 4, 2011) is you chance to attend a stand-up comedy event with not one, but four UK comedians!  The gig will take place at Kingston’s Rock Bar, next to Rio Cinema.  Tickets are 15 EUR.  Doors open at 20:00, comedy starts at 21:00.  There is even some sort of Keo beer promotion.  For more information call +357-99400363.

Cold Shot at Krasares Tavern

Pafos-based blues and classic rock band Cold Shot will be performing at Krasares Tavern this Saturday, March 26, 2011.  Tickets are 10 EUR, including some sort of finger food buffet.  Doors open at 19:30.  For more information call +357-99115957 or see Facebook event page.

Free WiFi to be introduced on Cyprus buses

Cyprus Updates shares the following:

Internet access will be available via wifi for free to passengers of Nicosia buses by next month. The service will start intiially on route 158 (Nisou – Pera Chorio) and then will be expanded to the rest of the routes. Furthermore, by 2012 buses will be equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) which will allow tracking of their location and subsequently provide information to the passengers within the bus as well as at the bus stops.

I wish there was a confirmed authentic source for this rumor.  Even with that it would be difficult to believe.  This sounds more like Google experiment than Cyprus public transportation roadmap.  Great news if it will ever get implemented!

Under The Number – It’s Only Right

Most of the music videos that I post in this blog are from well-known bands.  Today we’ll go for something completely different. Under The Number – a local band, based in Pafos.  The video is not even a music video yet, but the song is pretty cool.  Now I’ll just have to catch them playing live somewhere.
