Congratulations, Sanjay!

I’ve got an email today from my blogosphere fellow friend Sanjay. He hasn’t posted any updates to his website recently, but he has all the reasons in the world. Today, he got engaged to a really beautiful woman Vijetha. Boy, do they look nice together! (Yes, he sent me the picture, but I’m not posting it here. Yet.)

I am a very frequent happy birthday wisher. But engagements – they don’t happen so often. Not around me, at least. To have a birthday, all it takes is to live through one year of your life. But to get to an engagement – that’s a long road. It takes some people longer than they live.

Needless to say, I’m glad to hear the good news! Sanjay and Vijetha – you guys have fun! Enjoy it! My best wishes to you two, and to both your families.

Sanjay engagement

P.S.: Since I have the permission now, I’ve posted the picture as well.

Easter people

Last night, while driving back home from work, I saw crowds of people gathering in the churches, along my way. They all had candles in their hands, and they were wearing their best holiday clothes. Cheer and joy was in the atmosphere.

Despite my stand on religion, on think that it is an amazing thing that so many people have a common reason to join each other for celebrations. That’s, what I think, it’s all about. That was one of the original forces behind the whole religion and church business – to give people yet another reason for joy and to bring them closer to each other. Socializing in the warm and kind atmosphere is pure good in my book.

Those of you, taking part in such gatherings, I applaud.

While I am asking myself a lot of questions

Driving home from work today I somehow opened a stream of questions in my head:

  • Why are there so many people out on the streets at 23:15 today?
  • Where are they all going?
  • Are there so many churches in Limassol?
  • Did I have any interesting religion-related thoughts recently?
  • How many sysadmins does it take to dye an egg?
  • Why couldn’t they have some background music to that boring speech given the pope on the radio?
  • For who are the fireworks if all the people are inside the churches?
  • How does the law stands on noise at the middle of night? Then how about these church bells going off all over the city

These were just a few. I’ll be thinking about the answers, while you celebrate. And for those of you who do – Happy Easter!
