XXVII Moscow International Film Festival: Day 3

As the Festival continues, I continue to “fix” the Festival’s program. It seems that the program for previous Festival days disappears as well. This is really stupid. I know that having only the current and upcoming days is easier for the users, but 30 films a day is a list that noone will be able to see. Perhaps people would like to rent the movies later. A simple link to all the movies would be so much better…

Rants and complains are over now and the list of today’s movies follows.

New DVDs

While passing by Martin’s DVD club today I decided to check what he offers for sale. There are somewhere around a hundred DVDs for sale, but mostly average stuff. If it wasn’t all average, now it is, since I’ve got the most interesting bits. Here is what I puchased:

  • Kill Bill vol.1” and “Kill Bill vol.2“. 10 minutes into each of these movies and I was promising myself to buy the DVD. Finally, I have fullfilled my promise and can enjoy these masterpieces as often as I can.
  • Band of Brothers“. I’ve got the collector’s edition which comes on 6 DVDs in a metal box. It has plenty of bonus materials and stuff. I’ve seen most of the episodes when they were on TV, but I am not sure that I haven’t missed anything.
  • Road to Perdition“. I’ve seen this movie a long time ago in the cinema and really really really loved it. I wasn’t planning to buy it though, but couldn’t resist when it was standing on the shelve in front of me.

All of the DVDs are in excellent condition. “Band of Brothers” hasn’t been rented even once. The same with “Kill Bill vol.2”. “Road to Perdition” hasn’t even been opened. “Kill Bill vol.1” was rented once. To me. So I am not even talking about second hand here.

If you want to buy some DVDs, Martin has them in the shop for a mere 7 CYP. If you won’t make it until Saturday, he will take all of them to Linopetra market on Saturday morning and will sell them there. I suggest you hurry and buy some of these stuff as it comes out cheaper or the same price as getting them from online shops.

He also has some nice DVD box sets. I’ve got the only copy of “Band of Brothers” for 35 CYP, but you might be interested in Godfather collector’s edition, the complete Alien, Indiana Jones, Pink Panther, 24, or even Sex and the City.

Beach

Beach

Today we started the beach season at Kurium beach. Unfortunately the water was still way too cold to have a proper swim. We planned to also seabath Maxim for a bit, but had to cancel it. I think there were overall about 10 people in the water for the whole length of the sandy strip. Not only the water was very refreshing, but it was rather windy too. Not the ideal conditions just yet.

Anyway, I walked up to the neck depth and stayed in the water for the whole 10 minutes or so. Olga and Tatiana went half the way, but spend there about 15 minutes.

While sitting on the beach, I entertained myself with photography. It’s been a while since my last beach visit, so I saw some things from a different perspective. This time I am more satisfied with the results than I usually am. I guess that will not last too long though..

Fonts saga continued

I mentioned recently that I’ve installed a whole lot of fonts on my office workstation. I was never actually concerned about fonts and was very satisfied with the default few that I had on box. But I surprised myself. The view of the world looked so different and it appeared so nice that I decided to do the same procedure at home. I am way too addicted to the good looks of the Internet to view it in Helvetica 24×7.

If you are like I was, never caring about installing fonts, then I suggest you try it. You’ll be amazed as to how different the real thing is.

P.S.: One of the side effects was also my blogging fever. After I installed all these fonts I started to browse the web more, and WordPress’ administration interface looked so good, that I couldn’t stay away.
