I came across a really nice article titled “Where To Find Great Free Photographs And Visuals For Your Own Online Articles“. As the name suggests, it describes a number of websites that provide free images that can be used in online publications.
It is much better to use resources like those described in the article than Google Images, because it will save lots of time on getting the legal permission.
Photo Friday has an excellent monitor calibration tool online. It is simply a picture with varying shades of black and white that helps one to adjust contrast and brightness controls of the monitor. Simple, yet effective.
One of the main components of a good photograph is composition. Composition can make all the difference between a yet another boring picture and an award winning image. If there is one thing to learn about taking better pictures, I’d say it would be composition, since the rest is nicely taken care of by modern digital cameras.
And if there is one resource to learn composition, I’d say it would be Photography Composition Articles Library.
Kevin Kelly maintains an interesting blog called Cool Tools. Basically, this is a categorised list of items that are proven to be good. Proven by other people using them and writing a review that is. Everything from books and gadgets to websites and clothing can be reviewed.
My mother suggested that I watch a couple of films directed by Ki-duk Kim. I haven’t yet seen any and I doubt that I will be able to find any here in Cyprus. But from his IMDB portfolio it looks like he deserves some attention.
