Photo session

I couldn’t sleep in the morning for some reason, so I went out for a 4 hour photo session. For those who think that it is my normal behavior, I should mention that it is not. Especially considering the fact that there was a heavy rain, cold wind, thunders and lightnings, etc.

Finally, I’ve got completely wet and cold, but couldn’t make any nice pictures. Actually, I’ve made lots of shots, but only few of them are worth a look. I’ll publish those some day in the Photo section of the site.

Linux gaming

Accidentally, I’ve spent the whole day playing a bunch of Linux games. That is what happens when you just pass by the Happy Penguin web site. Here is the top three games:

  • NetPanzer – multiplayer network tank game. Nice graphics and sounds and live chat. Also there was no difficulty finding the server. I’ve been mostly dead though, but I still enjoyed it very much. There were even some people that Allied with me. :)

  • LiquidWar – a somewhat doom/quake mixture. Some nice graphics, but balance of the game is a bit off and my sound of was lacking behind a second or so for some reason. Still nice. :)

  • Open Mortal – that one should is actually on the first place. :) As you might have already guessed, it is a clone of Mortal Combat – a well known game. But this one is totally rewritten, looks similar, but heros are real fun! :) Evil forces are set to still Saturday from people and are about to leave the humanity with 5 working days and only one holiday for ever! Good forces should prevent them. Real fun. :)

In the evening we went to see “Love Actually“, which was better then we expected. There were some laughs and few nice shots of scenery. Not too bad.

Network care day. I’ve upgraded all home network hosts from Red Hat Linux 9 to Fedora Core 1. Numerous other changes have been made, like a global configuration of SpamAssassin and revival of MRTG and it’s migration to RRDTool. Everything went smooth and nice and I didn’t even have to use a backup. Hell, I didn’t even have a backup. :) And it still went fine… mr.Murphy must be out of the loop or something. :)

Today we woke up no earlier then 5:00pm. I immidiately went to change the spare from yesterday. It turned out that the tire couldn’t have been repaired and I needed a replacement. Guys at the garage gave me a reasonable second hand for 15 CYP. While I was waiting they were beering me with Leffe, feeding me with meat in pita, and appologizing for yesterday’s mobile failure. I don’t think I will use any other garage ever for my wheels. :)

After the repair I met with Hazard, picked up Olga and Lev, and we went for a delicios meal in “El Gusto” Italian restaurant. While mussles were not as good as they were last time, meat was excellent. But I what totally knocked me off, were the desserts. Actually, I don’t remeber that I had such a good impression just from the desserts. Hazard ordered El Gusto ice cream, which was most beautifully made, but was less then superior in taste. Tiramisu and El Gust special dessert were speechless. Bravo.

A quick old Russian comedy show “Maski” at Hazard and a bottle of red wine kind of finished the evening.

Finally, I’ve published all the recent photos. Some processing is still due, but the stuff you can see in the Photos section is as good as it will ever be. :)

Chesters Bar in the evening. When we were driving back, I’ve managed to find a biggest hole in the road and jumped in there with my front right wheel. Needless to say, the tire was gone. Luckily, I though, I knew one 24×7 tire shop, so me and Lev changed for the spare and I drove to the place. It was close. There was a mobile number on the sign, but it was not answering too. Too bad. Anyway, I can handle one day on the spare. :)

Finally, we ended up at Hazard’s place and watched one of the Olga’s presents – “Indiana Jones” movie. Actually she has all three of them from the boxed edition, but we could stay with one. :)
