Inside LiveJournal’s Backend

Posted in All on September 23rd, 2004 · No Comments

By means of Michael Stepanoff blog, I found an excellent document - “
Inside LiveJournal’s Backend” by Brad Fitzpatrick of Danga Interactive fame. The document is a set of slides from the presentation at Oscon 2004. It shows what it takes to make the site like LiveJournal.com from a technical point of view. There are some nice ways of handling high load described. Interesting to note that everything they’ve used is Open Source software - Apache web server, MySQL databases, Perl programming language (with some C), etc.
