Lavrion – Corfu sailing: Day 0 – Cyprus to Greece

Today, is the start of the new adventure. We’ll be sailing in Greece, from Lavrion Marina to the island of Corfu. We are moving the boat from point A to point B, while taking the opportunity to chill and relax.

Pre-flight Guinness #fly100gram

So far I’ve made it from Limassol to Larnaca airport (thanks to my brother for a lift), flew from Larnaca to Athens by Sky airlines, and got to the Lavrion marina by taxi (around 40 minute drive).

Monkey see, monkey do

The boat we’re going to be sailing is the X-Yachts X43 – a luxury performance cruiser. I’ve been on this particular one a few times, including the trip last December, from Lavrion to Limassol, Cyprus.

We’ve got on the boat, got ourselves settled and figured tomorrow’s morning plan. There’s plenty to do, including supplies shopping, fueling, and a test drive the new sails before we start our adventure.

We haven’t yet decided on our route. We’ll figure it out tomorrow. As we have a couple of options: either going through the Corinth Canal or around the Peloponnese region. Both have pros and cons. But that’s not the decision for now.

The decision for now is whether to sleep inside or outside in the cockpit. In basic terms: comfortable but hot vs. fresh air, possible mosquitos and wooden bench. A sip of rum is working towards the outside option… Good night!

Visa List – visa and documents info for 238+ countries

Visa requirements and document checklists are a tricky subject when it comes to travel and tourism.  On one hand, most of this information is public.  On the other – it is often hidden deep in government websites, or not available in English, etc.

Visa List is an excellent website with a really easy user interface, which presents all that information and more for 238+ countries.

Excellent work!

Greatest safety instructions ever

Over the years, I’ve seen quite a few of similar videos, but I think this is the funniest of them all!  Given how seriously airlines take safety, I hope this flight attendant is not fired or punished any other way.  Because, unlike all those regular instructions, people will actually listen to these, and, on top of them, will actually remember…

London Trip

Swan Pub, London, UK

As some of you already know, I’ve spent most of this week in London, UK.  My first and only time in London was back in 2009, when I went there for a PHP conference (see this post, and this post).

This trip was very different.  I stayed longer than the last time.  I was mostly for business.  I had much less time to explore the city as a tourist.  So I thought I’d write it up, in case I case I need to remember some of it later.

10 upcoming real estate projects in Limassol

A while back I’ve blogged already about the changing face of Limassol.  Cyprus Beat has a post with the 10 upcoming real estate projects in Limassol, that overlaps the previous blog post of mine, as well as provides some updated pictures.

Limassol is truly becoming an iconic city of the Mediterranean (even being mentioned in The New York Times). Hopefully, the trend continue…
