Today, photo opportunities were practically jumping into my eyes.

Firstly, when I left for work I saw this big bright yellow blooming tree on the parking lot. It is the biggest tree around and it had so many flowers that it was impossible to miss. Yellow colors of the bloom worked great with green leaves and blue sky. So I grabbed my camera and made a shot.

I thought that these will be all for today. But I was wrong. There was this really jumpy spider cruising around my workplace all day long. I wanted to photograph it, but I was too lazy. He wasn’t in a hurry though. A couple of hours later I said that enough is enough and made a picture of him. He left three minutes later.

It looks like I am getting signs. The bad news are that I don’t believe in signs. :)

Mouse

Going around the web and seeing a whole bunch of beautiful pictures fires up the need to photograph something inside of me. Having the will to create beauty and having my creative self totally on vacation really hurts. I know that I can photograph anything and everything around me. At the same time I have difficulty actually seeing the photograph.

I decided to shoot something never-the-less. The first thing that got into my camera’s viewfinder was the mouse. Out of three shots I’ve chosen the last one. I postprocessed it a little bit in Gimp. And here is the result.

Picture of the day

Olga is still recovering, but today she felt strong enough for a little walk. It was the first time she got out of the house since I brought her back from the clinic two weeks ago. Today is a fine sunny day with a slow cool wind, so we went to Molos promenade which is close enough to our house and far enough from the road and traffic odours. Of course I made a few pictures.

It is interesting how I never saw a man laying on the bench in Cyprus. In Russia it is a pretty common sight, but I never saw one here. During the last couple of month I had this picture in my head – an old poor guy laying on the bench by the sea. The picture was supposed to be in black and white. There shouldn’t be anything else in it. Just the sea, the bench and the guy. It seems very simple. But it surely needs staging since one can’t just find it in this country. With all the baby rush I forgot about the idea, but today, when we went out, I was reminded. Someone is watching me…

Shurik and Max

My brother’s 20th birthday coincided today with Maxim’s two weeks birthday anniversary. This was the perfect time to photograph both of them together. It is also the first time Alex is holding Maxim, as well as it is the first time they appear on the photograph together. Happy birthday to both of you guys.

Family photo session

Today I did yet another photo session with my family (Maxim, Olga, and my mother). I noticed that facial expressions of a infant do change extremely often. Actually, I had to switch my camera on to a continuos shoot mode to get few of the captures. What is even more interesting is that facial expressions of adults who play with an infant change at approximately the same rate. During 15 minutes I have made more than 60 images. Out of all these I have selected and postprocessed about 20.
