Perseid meteor shower is coming

If you enjoy star watching, then you should get yourself ready for Perseid meteor shower. It is already in progress, but the pick will be on the 12th of August when the density is promised to hit 60-100 meteors an hour. Lev has sent me a few links, so I am passing them all to you: here, here, and here.

If everything goes OK, I will be watching the shower together with Olga, Lev, and Hazard. I will also planning to properly photograph it this time, since I have a better camera, knowledge, and tripod. All I need now is luck. :)

Reminder of forthcoming cultural events

Limassol Wine FestivalChesters Beer FestivalI would like to remind everyone about a couple of events that will take place in Limassol in the near future.

Chesters Beer Festival. It will take place on 25, 26, and 27 of August. It is the 7th time Chesters organizes this event, which is a relatively long history. Event program and more information will be soon available at Chesters Bar website.

Limassol Wine Festival. As usual this time of year, Limassol Wine Festival will be welcoming all tourists and locals from 31st of August until 12th of September. I will try to attend it this year for pure photographic reasons. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any website dedicated to the event. The best page that I could find is here.

Drink safely or don’t drink at all. :)

Killer Queen

For the last few weeks Limassol was covered with posters which displayed a photo of Freddy Mercury and said something about “Killer Queen”. Most people assumed that there will be some kind of DJ mixing and matching Queen songs and who has enough ambition to call himself a killer of the band. These most people turned out to be wrong. Apparently, Killer Queen is the name of the band. The vocalist looks (and behaves) a lot like Freddy. The band has a website where you can read a lot more about them.

So, I was passing by Kanika when I heard loud music, saw a stage and decided that it would be good to go and see it. I called up Hazard and so we went. Entrance was free thanks to sponsoring of the best guys ever. The concert was excellent. The Freddy/Scotty guy was very energetic and had an excellent control over the crowd. After they have finished people were shouting for more, and so they did “We are the champions” which was campaigned with Greek flags, which was all connected to Greece’s triumph in the Euro 2004.

The only thing which was setting back the enjoyment was some stupid guy, who, I think, was the host. I don’t know from which disco they took him, but he was totally out of place, which was pretty much explained by his T-shirt with big white letters spelling “LOST”. :)

I wish there would be more advertising for such and event. A lot of people missed it because they didn’t know what it will be like. Pity. Anyway, once again thanks to Carlsberg and I hope they will do more of these. :)

Limassol Beer Festival 2004

Limassol Beer Festival

Limassol Beer festival has started today for those of you who are interested. Posters were advertising the event for more than a month now, so I am pretty sure everyone knows the deal. If you want more information, you can browse through the festival’s website.

So far I am not planning to go. If you want to know the reasons you can scroll through my last year post. If I will hear a lot of positive remarks about this year event, maybe I’ll show up for a pint or two. Otherwise – there are better places to enjoy the company, beer, and the money.
