ldap2mutt

Although Mutt can query LDAP directories for addresses directly, sometimes connectivity to LDAP server is troublesome (firewalls, company policies, etc). One way to go around this problem would be to create Mutt addressbook regularly from the content of LDAP directory. This script does exactly this. Specify which LDAP server to query, the branch where people records are, and the filter to use. Output can be redirected to the file of your choice.

Happy Birthday, Slava!

<%image(20040419-present.gif" alt="">

Today is Slava Dyrdine’s birthday. He is N years old now and I will him all the best for the next NxN years. :) I hope that he will finally realize what a nice guy he is and that by that time he will not forget how nice are we (his friends). :)

Happy birthday, man! :)

Amazon package is here

Finally, my order arrived from Amazon. My wishlist has been updated accordingly. :) This time I ordered a couple of books by Ansel Adams and few DVDs.

For some reason, customs office repackaged the shipment into a bigger bag and didn’t specified my full address. I had to go to the main post office and after a number of explainations and tricks, get the package there. Surprised? I guess not. :)

5th sentense on page 23 of the nearest book

Since I have seen this at a number of other blogs, I’ll try it too.

  • Get the nearest book.
  • Open it on page 23.
  • Find the 5th sentence.
  • Post it in your blog.

For some reason, I have two books that are at exactly the same distance from me: Perl Cookbook (first quote) and Complete Guide to Photography (second quote).

It removes leading whitespace from the text of the here document.

This extremely useful facility embraces the variety of shifts, tilts, and swings of the lens panel and film back that make it possible to correct converging verticals, change the shape of the image and alter the distribution of sharpness.

I guess I should have used a non-technical book for this. Maybe it could have had more sense. :)

50 First Dates

Olga and I went to see “50 First Dates” in the cinema today. I think it is one of the best Comedy/Romance movies that I have seen so far. The plot and actors were well known from the trailers. But it was much more fun than I expected.

There were only few characters, but each and every one of them was completed with all details and personal touch. There were quiet a few gigs spread more or less equally throughout the movie. There was a point in the film. All in all it played nicely alltogether.

Are still not convinced that you should see this movie? Two points more I’ll mention for you. First, there is no happy end. Some magic fairy doesn’t come from nowhere and save everyone. Second, this film was directed by Peter Segal, the same guy who did “Anger Managemen” and “Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult“.
