Appended few items to the wish from the The Linux Reading List HOWTO. Hopefully, I will start actually ordering things from next month.
Category: Technology
I work in technology sector. And I do round a clock, not only from 9 to 5. It is my bread and butter, it is my hobby, it is the fascination of my life. And with the current rate of change particular in information technology (IT), there is always something new to learn, to try, to talk about. I often post news, thoughts, and reviews. And when I do, this is the category I use.
Hylafax
Spent most of the day playing with Hylafax. Nice and powerful. Well documented as well.
Random bits
Slow day.
Lots of glitches due to weekends Exchange upgrade.
I’ve upgraded (finally) my home network from 10Mbps hub to a 100Mbps switch. Some of the CAT5 cables refused to work at all, others gave 25-75% packet loss. After a blind change, everything works like a charm.
Axis webcam
Lots of playing with Axis network camera. Yummy. Good frame rate, good quality, intuitive web interface, motion detector, etc. Movies all the way.
Random bits
Nothing special today: few meetings, some shell, some php, some amanda.
Two messages to linux-admins mailing list ended up in linux-kernel mailng list – one thing I never wanted to do, but… Appreciations go to the copy+waste mistake made by our nntp2mail gateway administrator.
