Category: Technology
I work in technology sector. And I do round a clock, not only from 9 to 5. It is my bread and butter, it is my hobby, it is the fascination of my life. And with the current rate of change particular in information technology (IT), there is always something new to learn, to try, to talk about. I often post news, thoughts, and reviews. And when I do, this is the category I use.
The Slow Web
Timely not real-time. Rhythm not random. Moderation not excess. Knowledge not information. These are a few of the many characteristics of the Slow Web. It’s not so much a checklist as a feeling, one of being at greater ease with the web-enabled products and services in our lives.
Linux distributions screenshot museum
Chris Haney has put together a simple application that allows one to browse through numerous Linux screenshots. Â More than 400 different Linux distributions are presented, with many of them featuring screenshots from different releases. Â This is interesting both in terms of how much a distribution has changed over time, and how one distribution compares to another.
I wish these were organized a bit differently, allowing more of a photo gallery experience. Â But I’m sure the improvements will come over time.

Google’s Interactive Unit Conversion
Google Search offered a unit conversion tool for a long time now. Â One could just search for “10 pounds in kilograms” and get a quick answer right on the results page. Â Google Operating System blog reports that Google has upgraded the functionality and now the unit conversion tool is interactive.
