I work in technology sector. And I do round a clock, not only from 9 to 5. It is my bread and butter, it is my hobby, it is the fascination of my life. And with the current rate of change particular in information technology (IT), there is always something new to learn, to try, to talk about. I often post news, thoughts, and reviews. And when I do, this is the category I use.

GitHub source code editor

Call me stupid, but that’s one awesome feature of GitHub that I haven’t noticed until now – source code editor.  When you view a file in your repository, there is an ‘Edit’ button on the toolbar above it.  That provides you with a simplistic text editor (with controls for tab/space indentation and wrapping), as well as a commit log fields.  Here is how it looks:

It’s not something that you would use for the majority of the coding of course, but it is a really nice option for quick edits all around.  Especially, if you have non-technical people in the project who edit README and other documentation files, and have no idea about Git at all.

Who needs CSS frameworks, right?

I’ve had one of those very productive days at work.  A rather large CSS re-factoring has been completed without too much obvious breakage.  How big of a re-factoring?  That’s how big:

345 files changed, 516 insertions(+), 8430 deletions(-)

Can’t wait for this project to migrate to Twitter Bootstrap CSS framework.
