Having nothing better to do, I’ve played around with site’s CSS. But I didn’t have to tell you this, or did I? :) (Unless, of couse, you one of those in the minority using console browsers).
Category: Site News
This website is very old. It’s been with me for many years. There are plenty of articles which are useful both for myself and the rest of the world. Bit by bit, word by word, link by link, image by image, this site was filled and filled over the years. Technologies changed. Some new techniques and concepts came up. Some old ones faded away. Spending as much time as I possible can (after everything else) on this site, sometimes I manage to introduce big changes – like a new bit of functionality or a totally different look. Not to confuse and scare everyone, I try to be open about the changes that were made. When something big is changed I post a description of what it was and why I felt the change was needed. These updates are published in this category.
Trying out Class::DBI
I’ve started working on a new version of this site, which will be a kind of merge with my internal home portal and some ideas that I had for a long time now. I’ve made some progress, which is mostly due to an excellence of Class::DBI perl module. This one is a sweety. It allows one to create database applications without a single line of SQL. Paired with CGI module (which allows one to generate web sites without ever typing in any HTML) it provides a fast development environment for a small project like mine. At the moment I don’t know how well it scales though, but I suspect – pretty much.
Photos uploaded
Finally Hazard uploaded all the latest pictures. I’ve processed and annotated them, so you can enjoy two new albums in the “Photo” section of the site – second session of mussle cooking and second trip to Akamas. Unfortunately, I had wrong settings on the camera for a good part of Akamas trip. That spoiled few shots, but there are still plenty left. :) I’ll be more accurate next time. Really. I promise. :)
Spending the day
That’s beach day again. I’ve spent some time in the morning annotating Hazard’s pictures, but didn’t manage to release them to the general public. :)
Beach place this Saturday was Kourium, near by the colliseum. Lots of ways, top-less babes, sandy wind, sun, and some beer. Nice time. No pictures though. I’m like fed up of shooting the same place for the 10th time. Anyway, you get the feeling. :)
After the beach, we went to Hazard’s place to have some very, by now, well known mussles. With Lev this time. In order to have proper time to enjoy those mussles we decided to have some Pizza Hut before. Anyway, the process of cooking mussles was very similar to the last time and interested ones can look it up in the photo gallery. ;) The result was excellent again, although not as good as the last time. Still, close to perfection. :)
Since beach and mussles are not enough to stop energizer bunnies like we are, we continued with nargile at Lev’s place. And watermelon. And more nargile. That seemed to be ending the day…
…but the way home was through a well known hot doggy place, so we couldn’t resist the tempation and got ourselves a nice and testy hot dog each with ketchup, mustard, and fresh onion. Paired with coke makes a good meal on the beach at 2 o’clock in the morning. Now, real trip home and hopefully end of the day. :)
By the way, I’ve managed to release the pictures from Hazard’s computer, while he was cooking. So, enjoy three new annotated albums (Sea, Akamas, and Mussles).
Hazard is an uncle now
Those who experienced problems with this site recently (mostly myself), should have them no more. There were few measures taken, which improved much the accessibility and lost the packet loss. :)
Hazard officially became an uncle today! There is no way the event like this will pass uncelebrated in this town. Lev, Hazard, Olga and myself all joined up in my place to have some food and start with a beer. After the official part we moved to Hazard’s place to watch “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” DVD. Back home rather early in the morning – around 4:30am. :)
