This website is very old. It’s been with me for many years. There are plenty of articles which are useful both for myself and the rest of the world. Bit by bit, word by word, link by link, image by image, this site was filled and filled over the years. Technologies changed. Some new techniques and concepts came up. Some old ones faded away. Spending as much time as I possible can (after everything else) on this site, sometimes I manage to introduce big changes – like a new bit of functionality or a totally different look. Not to confuse and scare everyone, I try to be open about the changes that were made. When something big is changed I post a description of what it was and why I felt the change was needed. These updates are published in this category.
WordPress developers keep tempting me to upgrade – recently they have released version 2.0.1. More than a hundred bugs were fixed. No more negative feedback from user crowds.
If I wasn’t as busy as I am right now, I would have jumped on the update script already. But I just don’t have the time. Hopefully I will find some before the winter ends…
All sites hosted on my home server will work a bit slower for the next month or so. This because of one of the recent projects o’mine. The Internet link is not a bottleneck here, but rather my server’s CPU, memory, and hard disk resources are. By the end of February, beginning of March, the workload should be moved to a totally different machine and everything will go back to normal.
Unfortunately, I can’t give you any more details at this stage, but you’ll definetely have more information in the future. No, really. I promise.
Until then, please stay with me. If the siite is unbearably slow, you can always try reading it via your favourite RSS reader. But it shouldn’t be that slow anyway.
I have installed yet another SPAM fighting plugin for WordPress – Spam Karma . I’ve read many good things about it, so I decided to try. Not that SPAM is a big problem for me, but it can be even smaller.

While there are no updates on WordPress blog yet, the Download section already has WordPress 2.0. Things should be easier, faster, and nicer now.
I am planning to upgrade this site eventually, but I’ll need some feedback from other users, especially regarding themes and plugins. The upgrade won’t happen this year though. Holidays’ve filled my schedule already. And even if they haven’t, debugging weird PHP code is the last thing I want to do on New Year’s Eve.
I am also planning to release a couple of new sites and those will start off on WordPress 2.0 platform. You’ll hear more soon too. Really. I promise.
Olga was very good this year and Santa Claus gave her a camcorder for Christmas. That means that even more content will be posted to this website in the coming year. So far you had plenty of texts and loads of images with occasional audio. Video clips were rare. Now they’ll be more often. (Stay tuned for the upcoming New Year Eve filming with me performing as Santa Claus).
We’ll just need some time to study the camera and how the whole process of filming, ripping, and optimizing for web works. Any hints are more than welcome, as usual…
