Perl meets Quake III

Ok. One week ago I was told that matches on our local Quake3 servers resumed. Rumor said that even TDM is played again. I haven’t been invited once for the whole week (suckers are afraid of me :)), which got me really pissed off. Perl Monks once again proved to be very helpful, so I’ve got myself a new perl script that sends me an SMS once someone joins the server. If you need one, you can use Quake3 Monitor as I did to construct something appropriate for your environment.

Three hours later I was warming up and then had a couple of nice FFAs. We even started TDM, but two out of total five people (freefrags) left the server in the middle of it. Still, we had lots of fun!

Counter Strike and wine

Today I’ve found a “Half-Life Platinum Edition” box getting dusted on one of the bookcase shelves. That pushed me to try Counter Strike over wine. I’ve got CVS wine configured and compiled in almost no time. Counter Strike even got itself installed. Then spent some time downloading all the patches and the maps and whatever. Finally, I got so bored with the damn thing that I put it back on the shelf for a better time and fired up The Ultimate Game Of All Times – Quake III.

Random bits

Still full of emotions from the LAN party, which was a total success. Soon demos and pictures will be available from Gamers-CY.com

Continued to work on the “free school” project, and now it is two steps closer to initial release to the public.

Installed Mozilla 1.1b for testing pleasure. Managed to crash it with hiding all bars and menus and swiching to full-screen mode.
