We went to Larnaca today for a KVN show. Chelyabinsk vs St.Petersburg. Chelyabinsk (“Uezdniy Gorod”) was a bit better. So they won.
Category: Cyprus
I live in Cyprus for many years now. It is a beautiful little island in Mediterranean Sea. It features warm weather for most of the year, sea, very kind and hospital people, plenty of jobs in IT industry, good food and plenty of alcohol, stable currency, and more. It’s really a nice place to live if you can handle small towns and villages. It’s also a great place to raise the kids.
Not much happens here. It is a quiet and simple place. Yet, when something happens or when I write about it, I post it to Cyprus category.
Show? Which show?
There was a gossip that some auto-moto show is going on somewhere in Cyprus. So, my wife, brother, hazard and myself got in the car and went to Nicosia to check things out. No auto-moto show. There was some furniture exhibition instead. We saw some sofas, kitchens, and baby rooms. I’ve noticed that a lot more nice ladies visit furniture show offs than computer shows. Strange though…
Beer and buffalo wings afterwords to compensate the trip. I’ve got the Chesters Frequent Guest Card and a polo shirt. Surprise-surprise.
Rescue operation
Wow, there was a great thunderstorm with rain, wind, thunders, lightnings, and all the rest. That caused minor road floods.
I’ve just back came from a small rescue operation. Actually, it was a rescue of a rescue operation.
Tornado
Freaky tornado came over and ruined a good part of our office’s neighborhood. Four of five twisters were going around our office building destroying shops and offices, blowing off roofs, breaking glass, and the like. Luckily we were not damaged at all. Luckily no deaths. About 30 people with light injuries.
Random bits
Lots of Vim.org during the first half of the day. Tested out most of the cool scripts and plugins. Checked out few colorscemes. In general, colors, IMHO, are better from the default installation, but perl compiler settings, calendar plugin, man and info plugins, ‘complete’ion options with the proper dictionary, and few other things came very handy.
Lots of meetings during the second half of the day and it seems that I will get a better set of working hours (finally!).
Chesters bar with few old-time friends, lots of beer and buffalo wings… Few tequillas to close the mess. :) Not a bad day at all.
