Apple

Full apple

I was planning to make an education poster today. The title was supposed to be “Three stages of before and after”. Unfortunately, I’ve got way too lazy and didn’t make it. So I’ll give you the source material and you can figure out on your own what I wanted to do. All three pictures are here.

Looking at these pictures, I couldn’t stop thinking how trite they are. But what if I made exactly the same pictures with a different subject? Say a human, for example. Now that would be gross and disgusting! I think I’ll stick with apples for now…

Engines for Mozilla Firefox search bar

Most of you probably already know this, but I have just found out myself, so I’ll share just in case some of you missed it too…

Recent versions of Mozilla Firefox have a feature called a search bar. It is usually located to the right of the address bar. By default, this search bar is configured to use Google. That is, instead of going to Google, you can just type your query in that search bar, hit Enter and you will get the search results. This is very convenient and saves a lot of time and clicking around.

Now, if you click o the small Google icon in the search bar, you will be presented with a list of other search engines, that you can use instead of the default Google option. There is also a menu item marked “Add Engines“. If you click on it, you will be taken to this page, where you can find hundreds and hundreds of other engines that you can use. Two that I have been missing the most were Google Images and IMDB.

Check this out and you will most probably save yourselve a lot of time.

P.S.: On Linux, these engines are installed into some global directory, so your Firefox will need root access.

Rain Man

Watched “Rain Man” on DVD. This is an interesting drama, but kind of slow-paced.

Two main characters were played by Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. Cruise was as useless as usual. Hoffman, on the other hand, delivered the best performance I have ever saw. He was so amazing that he made the movie worth watching only by himself. Everything is else became very unimportant. Absolutely totally brilliant.

None other bits of the movie matched Hoffman’s performance. Some of them though were pretty good. Particularly I liked how casinos and old cars were shown.

8 out of 10.

Rainy day

Rainy day

Today is a rainy day. I was watching rain from the office window. There were all sorts of rains today: minor with just a few drops; average with lots of water but in small drops, thunderstorm rain with huge drops but lasted only a few minutes. Overall, skies remained uninterestingly gray, and ground – uninterestingly wet gray.
