Shrek 2

We went to see “Shrek 2” today in the cinema. I have been expecting it for some time now and finally I managed to see it.

When someone tells you that there are two news for you – one good and one bad – which one do you prefer to start with? I’ll start with the good one. Technically this animation is much more advanced than the first part. Emotions are much stronger and they are much more human. Magic stuff looks really magic. Few things are really done unbelievably good – like that kitten’s look.

Now for the bad part. Aethetically this part is much worse than the previous one. The story behind it is simple and boring. Jokes per minute rate is lower. Humor is rather straightforward instead of neat laughts of the first part. Musical accompaniment is much much worse.

Overall, I’ll rate this part as a weak 7 out of 10. Very weak. It is more like 6.5 or 6.6. You can see it at home saving some bucks on the cinema.

Pafos Aquarium

Scary snake

Today I took another opportunity at photographing Pafos Aquarium. It is still as dark and fish are as fast as before, but today I was not limited in time. Some fish came out better, some worse. I have uploaded the results here.

Even durint the second visit within two weeks, aquarium seemed interesting and entertaining. I will enjoy it more some time in the future again. Every time I come there is something new to discover. Today, I found out that sharks are fed with the headless fish, corps of which can be found on the other side of the shark pool. Also, the alligator is better seen when coming out of the aquarium zone. There are some more turtles too.

Highwaymen

“Highwaymen” is a kind of film you get when you go to DVD rentals unprepared. It is supposed to be a hot triller, but instead it is a pretty boring movie with nothing much to it, except for some nice camerawork (in terms of sceneray and angles) and terrible budget that allowed only for like 3 people to participate in the movie, which is much more exciting than “Gerry“. Oh, and I almost forgot the opening titles – they were pretty good too.

The story is very usual and boring – harmed individual becomes a maniac to that tries to harm other individuals. There is no acting in the film what-so-ever. Partially that is because of the whole thing being very empty and simplistic, and partially that is because actors themselves weren’t very interested in the movie. Soundtrack was pretty average.

Overall rating – 5 out of 10. Note to self: have at least 3 movies written down in your phone before getting into the rentals – GPRS doesn’t always just work anymore.

Ultrasound examination

FaceToday, early in the morning, Olga and I went for the ultrasound examination. Olga’s internals were checked and everything seems to be OK – liver, kidneys, bowels, and stuff. The baby is doing very well too. In fact it is much bigger than it was supposed to be. And that is because the length of the pregnancy was miscalculated a bit. We are one and a half weeks older. To be exact, we are 14 weeks and 4 days.

For this reason, we couldn’t test for Down syndrome. Down syndrome test requires the check to be between 10th and 14th weeks. But the chances that we’ve got it are small anyways. The next check will be between 10th and 20th of October. During that time, baby’s heart, brain, and other internal’s will be checked.

Today it was impossible to determine baby’s gender, because he or she was always closing the legs or putting hands in there. The baby was moving quiet alot too. I was very suprised…

There is a video tape with the whole examination on it. I gave it to Hazard who kindly agreed to digitize it. As soon as he will finish, I’ll upload the mpeg here. More screenshots are available here.
