IRC is a lot of fun. Bash.org can give a good idea of how much fun IRC is. Quote Database Home is hosted there. Basically, it is a huge moderated collection of hilarious quotes from a number of conversations. You can vote your favourite ones up or down. You can also complain about a really stupid ones. But I promise you that you will not find a lot of those. Mostly it’s funny.
If you have just finished reading Cryptonomicon (like me) or you are just interested in nobel deeds of Alan Turing, you will find “The Turing Archive for the History of Computing” website (or simply alanturing.net) interesting.
Apart from being an extensive collection of documents this site has also an interesting way of presenting them. Instead of retyping and reformatting everything, they simply allow you to read and navigate through the scans. Click here for example. 404 is the code for the “Not found” error that web users get so often. Everyone knows it. What everyone doesn’t know is that 404 error messages are completely customizable. Rarely they are changed, but if they are – it can be a lot of fun. People at 404 Research Lab collect and study the 404 pages. They have them all categorized. They have even a pick of the week for the lazy ones.
I came across a “List of All Known DNS-based Spam Databases“. I don’t know if they are truly all, but there are defenitely a lot. There are both free and commercial entries.
