Equilibrium

EquilibriumFinally, I’ve watched “Equilibrium“. Disappointment. It’s not even close to “The Matrix”. The story (plot) is not finished, there are lots of glitches. Like millions. To start with, after the war people are usually very peaceful and don’t need hard military control. Secondly, I haven’t seen a single mutant, although the story takes place after the Third World War, which involved nuclear weapons. Hell, there is no even one ugly face in the whole movie. All men are body builders and all women are sexy, big breasted brunets. That’s boring. Lots of things like that.

Additionally, plenty of staff has been just plainly stolen from “The Matrix”. Camera positions, style, and effects in certain places. Like when these guys are coming from the downtown in the car in the beginning of the movie – it looks exactly like the scene when Neo has been taken to see the Oracle in the Matrix. The way he sees staff passing by while sitting on the back seat of the car… Black leather coats, haircuts, the way people talk… They even tried to steal martial arts, but that was difficult, so they failed miserably. And I am glad for that.

There are couple of nice fighting scenes in this movie, but it’s not worth the whole movie. I would rate the whole thing as 3 or 4 out of 10. Definitely not 7.8/10 as it stand on IMDB.

Beach and photography

Yet another day spent on the beach. Today, I was so excited about photography that I’ve practically stolen Hazard’s camera to make a bunch of pictures. Everything from highway road and bushes around it to advertising stands and passing by cars got onto the flash card. Hopefully, he should share it soon and I’ll publish the best ones here.

Lately, I started to think that I need a camera of my own and Canon PowerShot G5 looks very sexy. I’ll pass by a couple of Canon shops within the next few days to check out the prices. Web prices are all about 550 USD (for example here at Amazon.com). Cyprus shops will most probably have the same price, but in Cyprus pounds, which are roughly 1.5-2 times higher than USD. We’ll see.

Beach and food

Beach day! We (Olga, Lev, Hazard, and myself) are out on the beach. For Lev, Olga and myself this is the first time for the season. For me it is even the first time for the last two years. Yes, no beach last year. :) That was not too bad, you know. We went to the beach after 4:00pm, so there was no that much sun, and water was kind of cool and chilling. Lev, Vladimir and Olga played a never ending game of Uno. Well, actually that was one of the variations. If you haven’t played it yet, here are the links for you to buy the deck, read the rules, and read the FAQ. One advice though: do NOT play it if you are short on time or if you get bored easily.

After the sun/water sandy swimming activities we moved on to the feeding part at Lev’s place with lots of nice food cooked by his mother and her friend. It was mostly Uzbecks cuisine with traditional dish of osh. And that was one of the damn best osh I’ve ever tried. If you suddently got interested in Uzbeks, who they are and what they do, here is another link for your enjoyment.

Beer and poker

Beer brewery with lots of beer and food in the evening. Luckily they had both lager and ale, but both were kind of watery. Most probably it was the first day they had them. We should wait for about a week before our next visit.

Finished the day at my place where we had a game of poker, although I would of preferred to play on https://www.slotsbaby.com. I won totally and completely due to unbelievable luck. The last deal (Lev vs myself) I got Lev to declare “rest” and I head three jokers and one ace on my hand (that’s due to our special deck with 3 jokers). That was totally cool, but so much unbelievable!
