Today I’ve accidentally found out that there is a quote of mine on the Vim’s website. WooHoo!
Category: Technology
I work in technology sector. And I do round a clock, not only from 9 to 5. It is my bread and butter, it is my hobby, it is the fascination of my life. And with the current rate of change particular in information technology (IT), there is always something new to learn, to try, to talk about. I often post news, thoughts, and reviews. And when I do, this is the category I use.
Home network upgrade
Started to upgrade my home network to Red Hat Linux 9. My wife’s workstation seems to be the simpliest, so first it goes.
Everything went not as good as I hoped it would, so I had to reinstall the box from scratch. All configuration is left for later.
Back from NOC
Just came home from the night shift in the NOC. Did some perl programming and I feel so happy and relaxed that I can’t sleep.
Random bits
We still miss missing the auto-moto show. It is time to make our own. Hazard and I grabbed a camera and went out to make few pictures of our cars. Actually we planned to visit the car wash before that, but all of them are closed at 6:00pm. Nothing can stop us, though. Hopefully Hazard will upload the pictures in the next couple of days and I will rip them off, resize and minimize and put them here for your watching pleasure too. Stay tuned…
In other news, Olga read an article in the Linux Journal about new Gnome and now she terribly wants an update. It seems as a nice opportunity for Red Hat Linux 9 installation. Give me a day or two to grab the CDs from the office and I’ll tell you all about it.
Random bits
I feel more and more like a programmer. PHP days are not yet over with Knowledge Base (ala Faq-O-Matic) built for our NOC web interface. Perl comes handy for all sorts of report generation. And the “Remind yourself of DocBook” hour happened twice yesterday and once today.
