Pictures of airplanes

<%image(20040427-plane_turn.jpg" alt="">There were a couple of links from 300D mailing list to sites dedicated to aviation pictures. Loads and loads of images are at AirLines.Net and Aircraft-Photos.Net.

I think I will have a chance to visit both Larnaca and Paphos airports soon. I’ll keep my camera handy. :)

British Royal Navy

<%image(20040420-boot.jpg" alt="Boot">Lev has sent me the link to Royal Navy website. Apart form usual information about the Royal Navy, there is a somewhat huge collection of images. It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed watching so many pictures in one go. Most of them are impressive photographic masterpieces, delivering the atmosphere of the scene. There is everything and anything on these images: air planes, helicopters, ships, submarines, vehicles, weapons, missiles, mines, shooting, explosions, work, training, leasure, pride, pain, suffering, north, south, ground, sea, mountains. Even penguins.

One can browse through their gallery or download all (almost 1300) images from here and view them locally.

Happy Birthday!

I’ve uploaded few pictures from my small birthday party in Cleopatra restaurant. Most pictures show the balley dancer and people smoking narghile. It’s not that far from the truth, though. :)

This was also the first time that I’ve used my Digital Rebel in the fully manual mode. It was very dark in the restaurant during the balley dancing show and Rebel couldn’t focus on a moving target, so I had to do it myself. I was better then Rebel, but not perfect. While shooting the show I thought that there is a need for yet another automatic mode – “Night portrait of a sportsman”. :)

Add-ons for my Digital Rebel

I’ve placed an order for few add-ons for my Digital Rebel. Things that I wanted the most are:

  • Canon 75-300/4-5.6 EF IS USM zoom lens with lens hood (ET-64II).
  • Canon 58mm circular polarizer PL-C.
  • Canon EW60C lens hood for Rebel’s standard 18-55mm lens.

I’ve ordered through Digital Photo Discount Club, which is known to work. Total price together with the delivery is around $670 USD. If I would have to buy the same in Cyprus it would probably cost me 2-3 times more. The lens alone costs here about $1500 USD.

Big thanks go to Hazard who helped as usual. The biggest question now is will it arrive before the Cyprus stage of World Rally Championship which will be held during 14-16 of May. Hope lives forever! :)
