Up to the sky

Up to the sky

Leaving the office today morning after my night shift in NOC I saw a crane with a bunch of guys who were cleaning windows of our office building. Everything around was wet after the rain which stopped just few minutes before, a very cloudy sky with just patches of blue and cyan, and a bright rising sun combined with window cleaners caused me to feel off balanced. In order to compensate myself for the akward situation, I decided to make a picture.

I usually think very slow and do all sorts of stupid things when I am pushed outside into bright morning sun after being hacking inside for the whole night, so the first thing I did was to put a polarizing filter on my lens. Yeah, right. Very smart move. Actually I wanted to put a lens hood, but go figure… Anyway, I think it came out pretty good after some minor Gimp manipulations.

Review of the Kata R-102 Photo Rucksack

Gizmodo points to the review of the Kata R-102 photo rucksack at Shuttertalk. This one cool bag to consider for $125 USD.

I am currently using Vidpro VID 100 Durahyde Video/Photo/Digital Camera Bag ($34 USD), which I find very comfortable and big enough for all my gear. I don’t have that much of it yet though, but there is plenty of space still. I doubt thought that it will suffecient for two cameras plus lenses and flash units. When that time comes, I’ll be looking towards waht Kata has to offer.

Photo Friday: Signs

Stop signI have started participating in Photo Friday contests. I always wanted to do it, but was forgetting abouth the page due to a slow refresh period – new contest is only once a week. Now, though, with RSS feeds in place I don’t have this problem any more.

This week’s theme is ‘Signs‘. I have submitted the ‘Stop sign’ (link no.165) from my yesterday shooting session.

Today I took a short walk to the bakery. My neighborhood turned out to be very photogenic. Strangely, I was never noticing it. The best time to go around is at about 4:00pm. The sun is not that bright anymore, but provides suffecient light. There are plenty of old houses, creepy places, traffic signs, and cats. There are also some dumped cars which look interesting in black and white. By now you probably think that I live in the middle of nowhere and the only missing bit is some huge factory which is no longer operational… Well, I assure you tht I live practically in the center of the city and it is a very nice and quiet place. And no factories or anything like that.
