Video capture in Linux is easy and simple, as long as you have these steps done:
- Connect camcorder to the Linux box via FireWire cable
- Load dv1394, raw1394, ohci1394, and ieee1394 kernel modules with
modprobe
command. - Make sure that device
/dev/raw1394
exists. Also make sure that the user who runs the capture can read and write to the device file. - Run
kino
(you can get it from here), select theCapture
tab and grab the video. Play around with the settings to get the results you want.
