Linux.com has an interesting article about Using screen for remote interaction. Since I do a lot of screen advocacy, and these particular features too, I thought I’d share the link to the article. Just in case, you know…
Screen is one of those tools that is hard to explain but pure genius once you see it in operation. The description from its official Web site doesn’t help much:
Screen is a full-screen window manager that multiplexes a physical terminal between several processes, typically interactive shells.
Basically, screen allows you to create virtual terminals which are not connected to your actual xterms or console screens. You can then disconnect from a screen session and reconnect from somewhere else while preserving your shell or other running processes.

I am playing with screen from last few days. I liked it very much. But I had problem with command line editing. Shell provides shortcurs like ctrl-A to reach start of line but screen will consume it.
do you have any work around for it?
Hi Praveen,
Ctrl-A shortcut is interpretted by screen indeed. I don’t know of any workarounds for this. Are there any other shortcuts except this one that are caught by screen?
Some keys like Home, End will not work
For this keys to work you have to configure your terminal properly. Or the terminal settings of your screen. I remember that I did this sometime ago, but since then everything works by default in Fedora Linux that use.
these keys works well on my terminal. I think, i need to fix my screen terminal setting. I will try it then.
Anyway thanks for your help
