Nature

Blooming treeToday, photo opportunities were practically jumping into my eyes.

Firstly, when I left for work I saw this big bright yellow blooming tree on the parking lot. It is the biggest tree around and it had so many flowers that it was impossible to miss. Yellow colors of the bloom worked great with green leaves and blue sky. So I grabbed my camera and made a shot.

SpiderI thought that these will be all for today. But I was wrong. There was this really jumpy spider cruising around my workplace all day long. I wanted to photograph it, but I was too lazy. He wasn’t in a hurry though. A couple of hours later I said that enough is enough and made a picture of him. He left three minutes later.

It looks like I am getting signs. The bad news are that I don’t believe in signs. :)

On names: Maxim

The fact that children take a long time to learn thier own names is not surprising. Most parents I know are calling their kids all sort of names. Words they are using might be related to the actual name or not. Like all those honeys, dears, sweeties, etc. Taking all non-related words out still leaves a bunch of variations. Here are a few we use for our son:

Maxim, Max, Maxik, Maximushka, Maximka, Maximchik, Maximus, Maxut, Maximillian, Maxy, Maxo, Maxishe…

Domain hunting

After a rather long break in these kind of activities, I am back in action. I have to buy a few domains. I feel that technology did a couple of steps forward since the last time I was playing with anything in this area and I feel very rusty now.

Can anyone of you recommend some software or webservice that will help me to find free .com domains that contain a word or two of my choice? Ideally I should also be able to limit the length of the domain name. Of course I can grab the dictionary file and write a Perl script to deal with the task at hand, but I find it difficult to believe that it hadn’t been done and shared by someone else.

Send you ideas and links via comments or email. Thank you.

Forgotten taste

I have exerienced the forgotten taste of beer and brainstorming today. I had a very pleasant yet productive meeting with a couple of friends of mine. Main question was about making more money without breaking any existing contracts. Gladly we had a couple of worthy ideas that we will be looking into in the nearest future.

If these things won’t work commercially, we would have some great time anyway, so this is a win-win scenario. And this does not happen every day, you know…
