Still no summer

Weather forecastIf you were planning to come to Cyprus for hot summer this year, then don’t do so just yet. Normally, by this time of year, we would have high temperatures, clear skies, and starting to warm up sea. This year is not normal though. We are still at around +20C. A bit less than that though. Skies are cloudy gray. It was raining several times today. One of these rains was pretty heavy with huge drops falling for about half an hour.

The latest weatehr forecasts suggests that snow grains are coming… I am getting scared.

Impersonating

Looking at Maxim after his feeding, I often had a feeling of de ja vu. He looks so much like someone else I know that it almost hurts. I just couldn’t figure out who it was. Closed eyes, puffed up cheeks, bend legs that resemble a yoga sitting position, total relaxation – all of these were the characteristics of someone else. I was practically banging my head on the wall already…

… and than Olga told me who I had in mind – Budda! Most of all those Budda sculptures have the same characteristics, which are so well copied by Maxim that it is really unbelievable. Now I wonder where he could have seen Budda?

MEditerranean Area Network Operators Group

I’ve got this message from Paolo Lucente (reprinting with his permission) via my contact form:

I’m Paolo Lucente and i write from Italy. I’ve found your email address on the Linux Counter website.

I wish to signal you a new project that is actually starting up: MEANOG, the Mediterranean Network Operators Group. It aims to be the venue of a regional forum to exchange ideas and discuss both designing and operational issues in building and running IP networks, therefore covering topics that revolve around network operations and network technology deployment. It also aims to be a new and informal channel to present technologies, products and novel approaches of interest to data operators in the Mediterranean area.

If it could of interest for you or you know anyone might be interested in it, please give a look to (or signal) the project homepage: http://www.meanog.org

The project is very young and the homepage is really poor in terms of contents; any further idea, comment, critics or advice is warmly welcome.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation

Cheers,
Paolo

I myself am not so interested in networks, but since some of you are, I thought I’d post it here. Check it out – maybe you can be of some assistance.

Categories fixed

Finally, with the help of my brother, I managed to fix the categories. If you are about to ask what was wrong, I’ll tell you. The nesting was missing. All categories were in the flat list, sorted alphabetically, even though that made a little sense. Now you can everything as I intended iit to be.

I have also opened a number of new categories (such as all those programming languages) and rearranged some old ones (such as Wishlist going under Personal) without announcements. I generally try to keep you informed, but there are often these small things which aren’t worth a post on their own.
