It turns out that Cyprus is not at all as expensive as some people say it is.
Bucharest in Romania is the least expensive European city in 103rd place (71.4), followed by Limassol in Cyprus ranked 100th (71.9).

Bush jokes: fire in the library
It’s been a while since I posted any Bush jokes. It doesn’t mean that I changed my opinion about him or that someone is paying me to shut up. It’s just that I haven’t seen anything worth posting for some time. Today I came across a good one:
A tragic fire this morning destroyed the personal library of President George W. Bush. The fire began in the presidential bathroom where both of the books were kept. Both of his books have been lost!
– A presidential spokesman said the president was devastated, as he had almost finished coloring the second one…
Statistics refreshed
I’ve installed a couple of statistical plugins.
- SearchHistory. It lets me see the history of searches that were done on this site. The results are available only to me via the Administrator interface, but I thought I’d let you know.
- Counterize. This is yet another counter of visitors. Again, mostly this is for myself, but you can see a short summary, which I added to the Statistics page.

Konrad Wolf – film director
While going through the movie list for Moscow Internation Film Festival I’ve noticed that the name Konrad Wolf appears a lot and is often associated with high ranking films. I decided to do a check on IMDb and here is what I found.
Konrad Wolf was originally German, but left for USSR with his family. He returned to Germany in 1945 as an officer in the Russian Army (German fighting German nazi). He has made a number of films, mostly war related.
Here is a list of his movies which are rated above 7:
- Lissy from 1957, ranked 7.4/10.
- Sterne from 1959, ranked 8.9/10.
- Ich war 19 from 1968, ranked 8.4/10.
- Sonnensucher from 1972, ranked 8.3/10.
- Der Nackte Mann auf dem Sportplatz from 1973, ranked 9.3/10.
- Mama, ich lebe from 1977, ranked 8.8/10.
The big question now is where can I find any of these movies here in Cyprus? And with English audiotrack or subtitles?
