Congratulations to all women out there!

Today is a big holiday (at least in Russia, but some other countries celebrate it too) – International Women Day. I wish all the best to all women out there.

If you are a man and you don’t know what to do on this day, then get your butt in the flower shop and get some flowers and maybe even a small present and give it to your woman. Than get some flowers for your mother and grandma. Than some for your aunt. Give best regards and smile at all the other women that you’ll see during the day. Basically, you can even accept this line of behaviour for all the other days in the year too. :)

Fighting dried skin

Skin on Maxim’s hands and feet looks very dry and comes off in a number of places. It’s not a very pleasant view of skin patches everywhere. The good news is that he doesn’t seem to notice this at all.

We tried to fix the problem with baby cream yesterday, but it didn’t help that much. It’s not fat or oily enough.

Today my mother suggested the old and proven method – sterelized sunflower oil. We sterelized some oil and put some on Maxim’s skin. It looks like it helps. We’ll see how it will go for a couple of days…

New washing machine

Today we finally changed our old washing machine. It wasn’t completely broken though. The problem was that it didn’t want to get water by itself and someone had to pure water into it every time it wanted it. No fun. On some rare ocassions it would also spoil the clothes by putting some rusty color on them.

The problems are minor and could have been fixed, but we decided to get a new one anyway. A tour around the city suggested that washing machines are all in 200+ CYP range. They would get bigger and smarter with the price. But we wanted something small and simple. When we almost lost all hopes, we found what we were looking for. Galatariotis shop offered us Indesit W162 for 160 CYP with delivery, installation and two years guarantee.

It is the second time Galatariotis comes with the best offer (the first one was the fridge couple of years ago). I guess we are going straight to that shop next time we’ll need an electrical appliance.

New York Public Library Digital Gallery

New York Public Library has published a Digital Library – a collection of almost 300,000 images. Images are conveniently organized into collections, which are both browsable and searchable. As an example of stuff that you can find there, check this collection of Soviet posters from years 1918-1922.

Climbing up the Google ranking table

Hitting first pageI’ve accidentally noticed today that I have climbed up yet another step in Google’s page ranking table. Searching just for “leonid” brings up the link to this blog on the first page of results!!! I’ve attached the screenshot for historical reasons too (that is when I’ll be the number one link).

Things like this boost my enthusiasm enormously. Expect even more blogging in the future.
