I just watched “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story“.
It is a pretty average comedy based on a very regular story. There was nothing special about it what-so-ever and I don’ know what’s the big hype is all about. This movie is not exactly a comedy. I don’t know what it is, but it is surely not a comedy. There are so many movies that go along these lines that I think we are in need for a new genre. A bunch of guys are about to lose their gym. They need 50,000 dollars to pay the bills or the gym will be overtaken by the evil competitor. Trying to raise funds, they participate in a dodgeball championship and win it. Along the way, they make much more money than they need and overtake the evil competitor too. Some romance and few jokes mixed in there all together.
Casting was pretty straight forward – Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, and Christine Taylor. Soundtrack was average too. Jokes weren’t particularly smart, neither were they particularly stupid.
5 out of 10.
