Infrared Dreams
Yet another excellent photography site at InfraredDreams.com. As the domain suggests, images are done in the infrared light scope. Most of the infrared photographs that I have seen were dedicated to subjects like landscapes, forests, marines, etc. This site, on the other hand, presents people from the point of view of the infrared. Some pictures were done in the studio, others – outside. Great art!

Admin’s life
There are plenty of jokes about the routine life of system administrators. Many of these jokes come in pictures. There is an excellent collection of such pictures here. There are minor comments to pictures or on the pictures and some of them are in Russian, but don’t worry, you’ll get the meaning without comments too. Most of them go along the lines of “Admin’s breakfast”, “Admin’s girlfriend”, “Admin’s favourite server”, “Admin’s grandmother”, etc.

Once again I am going to post night photography. Today pictures are from the front of the Miramare hotel and a Haagen-Dazs cafe. The album is here.
Every time I hold camera in my hands while it is dark, I am fighting with myself about using a tripod. I do have it always in the car, but mounting a camera on the tripod and the possibility of walking around with one don’t feel like a lot of excitement. So I don’t. But than, every time I look at the pictures that I had to take with f/4 and ISO1600 I kick myself in the butt for not using a tripod. Results could have been so much better with a slower aperture and lower ISO.
Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II
Digital photography is getting stronger and stronger by the day. More and more products come out that are aimed at satisfying professional photographers. Yesterday, Canon announced a new camera that should bring even more people into digital – Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II (also here).
This one has a full 35mm-sized censor with almost 17 megapixels (16.7). It can shoot faster (4 fps) and for longer periods of time (32 JPEG or 11 raw images can fit into the buffer). Recent Canon cameras boot much faster, and this one is no exception – power on takes only 0.3 seconds. Battery life was also improved; 1Ds Mark II can make up to 1200 images at +20 degrees C or 800 images at 0 degrees C using the same batter pack. With this amount of pictures, you’ll need some fast transferring mechanism. And Canon provides that too – WiFi adaptor for high-speed transfers. This camera follows another Canon traidition – support for EF lenses, which Canon and other vendors produced in great variety.
The only issue that might stop one from getting in queue for this camera is price. Yup. It will cost around 8,000 Euro, which is way too much for a hobby. Professionals though can afford it.
