relay_from_hosts in exim-4.40

Just in case you will bump into the same problem or if I will forget how to solve it…

If you want to use a file with a list of IP addresses that are allowed to relay mail through your server, you need to use net-iplsearch instead of plain lsearch. Plain lsearch will not work and you’ll get all those ‘relay denied’ errors.

hostlist relay_from_hosts = net-iplsearch;/etc/exim/relay_from_hosts

Specify IP addresses (and network masks if you wish) one per line (or with other separators that Exim understands).

Picture of the day

Jumbo guy

My entry for ‘Picture of the day’ for today is very small – just two images. In fact, it is twice of what I actually need, but my previous postings make me feel somewhat guilty for today. On the other hand, I was in the photo mood for most of the day and if I just had more time (like no office work or something) I would have made a lot of pictures. This calms me down.

Olga cousins left today

CousinsOlga’s cousins Tatiana and Natalia Babenko left Cyprus today. Before they did, we, of course, used them to get a lot of information for our family tree. As a result, the tree was updated with new information about existing and around 20 new people. Nataly will investigate the relatives further and will send us more data to merge, together with (hopefully) scans of some pictures.

I have also used the occasion to add some more pictures to the web report pages of my brother, my mother, my wife, and myself.

Working with hashes in Perl

There are several very useful modules at CPAN to work with Perl hashes. Here is a short list to get you started.

I’ve used this article (in Russian) as a base for this post.
