It’s just so cool that I had to have it. :)

The time machine of my blog has already travelled back to enjoy old calculators and computers. This time it goes back to gain some knowledge of the Third Best Thing™ invented in the 20th centure – television.
TvHistory.tv has all you ever wanted to know about television sets. The site is conveniently broken into few eras of development and staffed with a bunch of pictures, technical data and timelines.

ESA news have an interesting article about discoveries from a recent wave studies. Gigantic waves have been a primary reason for sunk ships for some time now. This time these waves have been studied with the help of satellite technologies. There are also few pictures to see like the ones attached to this post.
Update (August 2, 2004 2:55am): Slashdot coverage is here.
I came up (I haven’t heard it before) with an easy way of destinguishing between a system administrator and a network administrator. All you have to do to find out if a person is a netadmin or a sysadmin is ask him/her to connect via secure shell to any host of his choice. If a hostname is used, then it is a sysadmin in front of you. If an IP address – it’s a netadmin.
# System administrator ssh user@somehost.net # Network administrator ssh user@10.20.30.40
I think that it is about time that I start separating posts that contain general stuff from my personal stuff. For that reason, I have created a new category – ‘Personal’. As usual, I have moved a good number of posts there dating back to the beginning of year and even more.
On the other hand, I still see some buggy behavior. For example, category switching is not working sometimes (after playing with Today/Archives). I will track it down and get rid of it as time permits. Meanwhile all bug reports are welcome, so that I can find a trend.
