Stumble Upon
I have noticed that a lot of people are referred to this site from StumbleUpon.com. I don’t know anyone who is using this service though and I wonder how did I got in there. :)
Here is what they say about themselves. I have also tried to install there toolbar but it didn’t like my FireFox 0.8 a lot. Thier site boasts support for Mozilla browser, so I am puzzled now.
Update: After some screwing around I managed to install the toolbar. If you have a problem installing it, try restarting the browser a couple of times. :)
sa_patgen
A lot of spammers use modified words to get throuth spam filters. What they do is take a word like ‘casino’ and insert a random character into it. For example ‘ca!sino’. If you get a lot of spam with words modifed like this, then you can use sa_patgen.pl to generate pattern rules for SpamAssassin.
All you have to do is specify the score to add for each modified word match (I use 0.5) and a list of words like casino, gambling, viagra, etc. The script will output a set of rules to match modified words. You can save the output in your local.cf file or pipe it somewhere else.
Graphics again
I came across a couple of interesting links today. The first one is a simple wizard-like tutorial for creating logos of letters.
The second one, Unleash.com , is a bigger resouce dedicated to all sorts of graphical issues – from logos to 3D. Practical examples mostly cover CorelDraw, but some of them are easy enough to reproduce in Photoshop. There is also plenty of practical theory, which can suggest ways of improving your photographic skills.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
I stayed up rather long today configuring the full screen mode for the Nvidia TV-OUT and building a user friendly interface for DVD playback for Olga to use. After everything was configured I decided to test it out with a movie session.
It was not the first time that I’ve seen “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest“, but I enjoyed every bit of it anyway. This is one of the best films made ever and I am so happy now that it is in my home collection. A must have. The movie itself is somewhat different from the book, but it is an excellent watch never-the-less.
There is another DVD with all the special features, interviews, and stuff which I will watch some other time… when I am not so sleepy. :)
