British Royal Navy

<%image(20040420-boot.jpg" alt="Boot">Lev has sent me the link to Royal Navy website. Apart form usual information about the Royal Navy, there is a somewhat huge collection of images. It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed watching so many pictures in one go. Most of them are impressive photographic masterpieces, delivering the atmosphere of the scene. There is everything and anything on these images: air planes, helicopters, ships, submarines, vehicles, weapons, missiles, mines, shooting, explosions, work, training, leasure, pride, pain, suffering, north, south, ground, sea, mountains. Even penguins.

One can browse through their gallery or download all (almost 1300) images from here and view them locally.

Nucleus on steroids

I’ve upgraded my installation of Nucleus CMS to the eXtended Edition. There a bunch of fixes and improvements, as well as quiet a few preconfigured plugins and skins. I am still playing around with all this stuff, so don’t be too surprised to find site broken and pieces of blog laying around. If something stays broken for too long, though, make sure to let me know. :)

After I’ve been enhancing my mAd CSS skills, I’ve found out that neither Konqueror, nor Microsoft Internet Explorer display this page correctly. I’ll have to work out the nuances later…

Happy Birthday!

I’ve uploaded few pictures from my small birthday party in Cleopatra restaurant. Most pictures show the balley dancer and people smoking narghile. It’s not that far from the truth, though. :)

This was also the first time that I’ve used my Digital Rebel in the fully manual mode. It was very dark in the restaurant during the balley dancing show and Rebel couldn’t focus on a moving target, so I had to do it myself. I was better then Rebel, but not perfect. While shooting the show I thought that there is a need for yet another automatic mode – “Night portrait of a sportsman”. :)

Ali

Just watched “Ali” on DVD. This is an excellent movie about boxing star Muhammad Ali (played by Will Smith). I’ve really enjoyed the film. It does show the difficult life of Muhammad Ali, his rise, fall, and another rise. Camera work is excellent as is the soundtrack. Boxing is shown from an exciting perspective. The movie is in the spirit of “Rocky” and sequels, but it also brings the motion picture progress of the last 20 years into it.

Those looking forward for a lot of action should probably skip this movie. It’s a drama and a story of the life of a famous man. Lots of fighting, not a lot of boxing..
