VaultPress Lite
VaultPress, “the world’s best WordPress security, backup and support”, has recently introduced a Lite plan. Â It’s only $5 per month and it covers most of the essentials:
- Daily backups that happen automatically, so you can focus on creating, not logistics.
- Automated site restores, so you can restore your entire site with a single click.
- Thirty days of saved backups, so you can go back in time to restore the last clean version of your site.
It’s cheap enough for small, personal blogs, and it’s more than perfect for start-ups and small businesses too. Â $60 per year for healthy full night sleep is nothing in my book.

Sendy is a self hosted email newsletter application that lets you send trackable emails via Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). This makes it possible for you to send authenticated bulk emails at an insanely low price without sacrificing deliverability.
WordPress version check
With all the news of brute force attacks against WordPress, I thought I’d at least update the installations running on my servers. Â Since there are quite a few instances of WordPress on some of them, I was in need of some automated way to check the installed version, hence – the WordPress version check script.
I have some really old versions that I wouldn’t update automatically, so that functionality is not in the script yet (hopefully in the future). But as they say, knowing the problem is half of the solution or something like that.
If you don’t like mine, build your own, using WordPress.org API.

Yet another downtime. Apparently my VPS went a bit crazy yesterday, and the hosting company suspended it. Â I’ve had it with the VPS hosting. Â It’s time I move over to the dedicated server. Â The arrangements are being made.
